Basically have a minor boo boo and they cry?

Whenever DD cries because of a minor accident, for example she'll be standing and loses her grip and falls on her tush or something and gets a bit startled, DH immediately warns me to LEAVE HER ALONE and to LET HER LEARN BY HERSELF and DO NO PICK HER UP?

Okay, I understand what he's trying to do, but she's only 14 months, and sometimes it DOES hurt?! I don't always pick her up, I usually say to DD "Aww, it's okay!" and sometimes I give her a hug when that doesn't stop her from crying.

IS THAT SPOILING HER?????

I usually wait to see DS's reaction before I react. If he just seems a little startled but doesn't cry, he'll just go about his day and I won't say anything. If he seems a little stunned, I'll ask if he's okay and usually he'll say yes. Obviously, if he starts crying right away I'll pick him up and give him a hug and kiss.

I've always waited a bit too. Usually she is able to brush it off and get herself back on track. If she seems unusually upset I swoop her up. She'll sometimes watch you and see that you are worried and get worries herself. I most often say something like "Ka-BOOM!" or "Whoops!" that lets her know I'm watching but doesn't communicate that she should be in need of comfort.

I wait to see his reaction, if he looks like he's about to cry, I go over, and say "yaaaay, you fall down" or something and he starts laughing. If he is really crying, I pick him up.

I wait to see what he does and if I see that his fall wasn't that bad, I say to him...you're okay...He usually gets over it after that.

It depends if I know she's not really hurt I will say "You're OK, brush it off." in a happy voice and usually she responds to that. I can tell by how she's crying if she's really hurt or just looking for someone to notice she fell. I don't leave her there crying though if she doesn't respond to me telling her you're OK.

I wait to see the reaction. If they're really crying I will pick them right up. They just want to be comforted, its not spoiling them.
