I have ALWAYS brought toys for my neices and nephews at family gatherins (we have one reunion a year..so at least for that). It will be interesting to see if they bother to get anything now that I have a child...hmmm I DOUBT it, LOL

Oh, don't get me started on thisChat Icon

For years and years, DH and I (when we were single and didn't know each other and while married) bought countless toys (I'm 37 and DH turned 40 today so you can do the math on how many holidays that was...) and gifts for relatives and friends for holidays (not GTG's exactly) and well... over the weekend SIL came up with the lamest excuse as to why my DC's haven't received their 1st b-day present yet... they were born in March and it's JulyChat Icon

I feel like Carrie in that episode of SATC when she does the math on how many shower, wedding, baby, etc. gifts she's boughtChat Icon

I usually buy clothes as they have lots of toys and my family always has presents for DD in return. I would stop if it wasnt being reciprocated only because I would be upset for my little one standing there with nothing Or maybe you could buy something all the kids could play with like bubbles, play doh etc - dont know the ages of the kids.

What a great idea! Buying for all the kids one item is much smarter and less hurtful to any of the kids. Thanks!

This is a great idea - all the kids can play with something together which means your DD isn't left out...and you still get to be the cool aunt/cousin/etc.

It has to be hard to know all the love and good intentions you put out for the kids but to see your daughter not received the same....but for the record...you rock! That's an awesome thing you do for them...and they will remember that. You'll always be known for your kindness Chat Icon
