Re: do u really need to intro solids if BFing full time?
We did baby led weaning with #2. SO basically dd would drink breast milk on demand and we would offer our foods. When she was mature enough to pick them up and feed herself she ate them. We would just cut our food up really small. We never spoon fed her pureed foods or gave any type of baby food. To this day she is a very good eater. Much better then her older brother who had baby food. And it was a lot easier for me since there was no baby food to make or buy.

There's a saying "food before one is just for fun." Babies get their nutrition from BM/formula, so you don't really have to do solids before one year. I personally did, so I couldn't give you any advice ont hat route, but wanted to let you know that from what I've read and heard, it's not really necessary.

In our area, it's typical to introduce solids at 4-6 months. IMO waiting until your baby is ready and demonstrates interest in food is the best way to go.

Re: do u really need to intro solids if BFing full time?
With DD #1, I was so excited to start feeding her solids. But I can say that it definitely messed with my supply. This time around, I am waiting. DD will be 4 months old on thursday and I know at her checkup my ped is going to say that it's time to start on cereal, but I am not doing it yet. Not sure when, probably sometime between 5 & 6 months. But you are correct that a baby doesn't need food. But I do believe that it is important to get them eating food before they are 1, just not as early as it is recommended.

Re: do u really need to intro solids if BFing full time?
Honestly, it wasn't until she was 9 months that my supply changed at all. I did a mix of baby led weaning and some purees. She probably started eating more for nutrition vs fun at 9 months, but I started solids at 6 months.
