Do let your DC come into your bed?

If so, how old are they and where do you let them lay/sleep? This is something I'm struggling with right now. I always said I wouldn't do it but in the early morning if DS fusses but is not ready to eat I let him either lay on me/next to me and he usually goes back to sleep for like an hour. I never fall asleep but it's nice to just lay there.

I cant let DS sleep with us anymore. He did it for a week and loved it too much. He started to refuse his crib so thats when I decided it was enough, I didnt want him to get too used to it. I LOVE sleeping with him though.

Yes! DS sleeps in his crib until around 6AM and I let him sleep with me until he gets up. I have to be up for work at 7am. If I leave him in his crib he wont go back to sleep, but if he lays with me he will. SO Mommy gets another hour and is happy!

No, never.

Although I love laying with my babies, I don't want them to take a liking to it and want to do it all the time.

SAME! My husband did not get this until one time when my son was sick and he slept between us needless to say no one slept that night. Now he is completely on board with this.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

We do this sometimes with our 5 month old DS when he wakes up around 5-6am. He'll sleep another 1-2 hours this way and DH and I love cuddling with him. We try not to do it too often so he doesn't get accustomed to it and not want to sleep in his crib anymore.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

I would if DD ever wanted to but she hates laying with us, she loves her crib and if we brought her into bed with us she would think it was play time!

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

I always said I wouldn't do while he was little for fear of creating a habit but we went through a rough 3 week phase where his sleeping was a mess and so at 4 am when he wouldn't/couldn't fall asleep, we'd bring him into bed. He slept great but I couldn't, i was too worried he'd get smushed, the blanket would conver his face, etc. Luckily the phase ended and there was no habit to break.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

Only when he was a newborn he slept in the bed, but it was more napping. He always slept in the night for bedtime, but napped in the bed for the first couple of months. Once he was in his crib at 3 months he never slept in my bed. He's 15 months now and on weekends we do watch TV together in the mornings when he gets up around 7AM, but never sleep

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

yes I do
around 4:30/5am she wakes up. I don't know why exactly but she does. Hubby is too tired to deal with it so he just brings her to bed. She usually gets a sippy of milk then falls back to sleep for anothr 2-3hrs.

Just this morning I told my hubby that we need to shut off her monitor and let her figure it out. Even if she does come to bed with us it would still be less hassle. Altho I know the image of a dark shadow, even if it is my child, in the door way will seriously freak me out!

Where does she sleep. I'd say its a 50/50 chance she'll sleep between us head/toe configuration. The other half of the time she'll sleep in an "H" formation with her head into Jim's ribs and her heels into mine Chat Icon or vice versa Chat Icon

Last night (this morning) she came in late enough that Jim was feeding our cats while she fell back asleep. So she'd taken his spot, he slept on the couch.

haha

I co-slept when she was younger, she used to sleep on her own but this Summer she spent two months at my aunts where she slept with her due to lack of space, so I think she got used to it again. We still put her in her own bed alone and on rare occasions she'll actually stay there all night.

If she's 13 and sleeping with us, I'll worry. Until then I'm just taking it one night at a time.

I usually bring in DS when he wakes up around 3ish - I'm so tired and it takes forever to get him back down in his crib. Sometimes I do it earlier if he wakes up and DH is working and I need to get to work the next day.

Yup, every morning around 7 when she gets up. We feed her in our bed then just hang out for about 45 minutes together. It's favorite part of the day Chat Icon She has no problems going to sleep in her crib at night. She's 10 months and we've been doing this since day one.

We did up until he was about 6 months, it was my favorite thing to do. It never formed into a habit and we'd all fall back asleep together

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

DS for the summer has been in a pack and play in our room. Sometimes, rarely, he wakes in the middle of the nite and i'll put him in our bed between DH and I and he usually goes back to sleep in 10 min. then i transfer him back.

some mornings if he is up before 6, i'll put him in our bed for a little while and hang out.

He's almost 11mo.

I dont want to get into the habit of having him in our bed all the time.

we did this in the beginning with our DD from about 5 months-10 months. then she could get off the bed and roam around and DH was still sleeping. needless to say we dont do it anymore.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

We never bring DS into our bed to sleep. Every morning he wakes up around 6:15 - 6:45, which is the same time we wake up. We bring him into our bed where he has his morning bottle, but he never falls alseep there. After his bottle, he is a maniac crawling all over our bed Chat Icon

ETA: DS is 7 months old.

We do on the mornings that he wakes up super early, we can usually get an extra hour of sleep this way. He doesn't do this every morning.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

We used to with DS when he woke up super early like 5AM (when he was around 1) but with DD I vow to NOT let her in my bed.

We coslept with DS for a few months and now getting him to sleep on his own is a complete nightmare.

One of us has to lay with him till he falls asleep every night and if he gets up in the middle of the night (which he does every night) one of us has to go in and sleep with him or he comes into our bed.

I completely regret letting him cosleep and vow to absolutely not do it with DD.

Re: Do let your DC come into your bed?

We've only done this once and he slept on DH's chest...we both basiclaly wanted to sleep in a little longer Chat Icon .

Sometimes I'll let him nap on my bed but if Im there because now he rolls and moves all over the place and I have a high bed. Other than that...he's in his crib.
