Do I really need a pack and play?
I have a bassinet that is portable( the top comes off the base). Did you guys really use the pack and play? I am thinking of returning it for other stuff- like a car seat for when they are older.

I don't think you really need it. I used mine instead of getting a bassinet. I'd say the only way you'd need it is for traveling with the baby, so the baby has some where to sleep.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
I didn't think i'd need it...however my bassinet was considerably smaller than the pack n play...DS grew out of the bassinet at 2 months old and now we use the pack n play...don't know if thats an issue for you, just something to think about! I didn't think i'd ever use the pack n play but now love it!! It's so much roomier than his bassinet was!

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
We have been using ours since he was able to sit on his own (around 5 months) a lot. I know he is safe in there if he wants to move around and I have a lot of soft toys in there for him to play with. He loves it and so do we.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
No you don't ...however as they get older it is a safe contained place to play, rest and watch tv. If you have a big house you might want the baby on the same floor as you.
I use it everyday at my mom's house because I work. He naps and plays in there. Grandma has also done a couple of diaper changes in there when he is too wiggly for the couch.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
Thanks- I needed to hear reasons to use it. I didn't think of using it AFTER she outgrew the bassinet. She is staying in our room for at least six months since her room is on the other side of the house.

My mother took mine and uses it as a crib for Jared when he stays over there.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
I couldn't live without it! Once he outgrew the bassinet I have been using the pack n play. Our bedrooms are upstairs so I use the pack n play on the main floor for naps and changing him or just putting him there so I know he is safe.
If you have a one floor place then you def don't need it.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
I have NEVER used my pack-n-play!!! Both of my sons were NEVER in that thing. Biggest waste of money and space in my opinion.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
We kept our co-sleeper in our bedroom upstairs and the pack n play on the 1st floor. We spent most of our time downstairs on the 1st floor and he would take his naps or play in it during the day. We used ours until Nate was walking.
My ILs have one at their house also.... He still plays in it sometimes.

Re: Do I really need a pack and play?
I've used mine every single day since we brought her home from the hospital. At first, I would put her down for all of her naps during the day in it, so that she would associate the nighttime with her crib. And now, she loves playing in it. It's a safe place for me to put her while I hope in the shower. Plus, I take it with me when I go to people's houses.
