Do I need both monitors?

an audio monitor and a video/audio monitor?

Right now I'm registered for both the Sony Baby Call Nursery 27 channel audio monitor and the Summer Infant handheld color video monitor, do I need both? If not, which one should I keep on the registry?

ThanksChat Icon

Re: Do I need both monitors?

Not a BTDT mommy, but I have the audio monitor for when the baby is in my room for the first month or so, then the video monitor for the baby's room. I also figured that I could use the audio monitor if the baby naps in the swing or bouncy seat or something and I want to go into another room. Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid!

Re: Do I need both monitors?

I only used the audio monitor. I got too upset with the video monitor. Every time I heard a noise from the baby's room and saw her looking upset, I would go in, rather than letting her soothe herself. When we took out the video I was able to wait a minute or two and let her put herself back to sleep. However, some people like to see that the baby is tossing and turning, but is really OK. Then they can go back to sleep.

We just used an audio, but I think I would've been less paranoid with a video one.

I have both but only cause i didnt register for the video one and then wound up buying it myself a few months ago. I only use the video one, but i figure, ONE DAY, when my son decides to finally nap in a crib, my MIL will use the audio one at her house when he's napping there in her crib that she bought that is just rotting away in the baby room she made up for him.. breathe.. breathe...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Until that day comes, the audio one just rotts away in my hall closet.

Re: Do I need both monitors?

I had both, the walkie-talkie one to take outide if she was in her room sleeping, and the video one, bc we live in a high ranch and at night sometimes BBQ or watch movies in the den downstairs so it was a good thing to have. A definitely recommend it if DD or DS sleeps on a different floor. The black and white one is more that sufficient though - if the color one is more expensive, there is really no need for it.

Re: Do I need both monitors?

We use both. The video one for the crib, and the sound one only for wherever else he may be throughout the house. Its also good to travel with.
