disney timeshare- need help choosing

We're going to disney in october with a 5 1/2 year old and almost 2 year old.

we were looking to stay at Harbour Lakes but we can't seem to get a 2 bedroom through our timeshare yet.

Looking into other options...
Marriott grande vista
Sheraton Vistana Village

any opinions? pros/cons?

I'd love somewhere with a great kids pool this way my 5 year old can go to the pool while my 2 year old naps in the afternoon. But i also want my 2 year old to be able to enjoy the pool too. Chat Icon

We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Villages this past fall and it was great. They have a great zero entry pirate ship pool that my DS who was 2 3/4 loved - and bigger kids loved as well!!! They also have a big water slide. There is a larger pool as well but, it was closed when we were there. There are three playgrounds on the grounds too.

The rooms at the resort were great too and it only took us 15 minutes to get to the farthest park.

I don't know much about either of those, but have you checked out Bonnet Creek? It looks AMAZING! The rates are ridiculously cheap on ebay!

Re: disney timeshare- need help choosing

I have heard very good things about Sheraton Vistana and have booked my friend two bonus vacations there. DH and I always stay where we own at Orange Lake. There are lots of pool areas to choose from- zero entry, baby pool, splash ground, lazy river, etc... My parents also own at Liki Tiki and they have a nice kids area too. And we set my BIL up at Summer Bay a few years ago and they had a great kid area too.

Re: disney timeshare- need help choosing

Stayed at the Marriott Grande last year, loved it. Had a little kiddie pool, that I believe was heated, and the bar was right there. Dh and I had cocktails, while the kids had fun in the pool :) They had a few different options for pools.

The rooms were beautiful and large. We stayed in a 2 bedroom.

We are going to Disney again at the end of the month and are staying at the Sheraton Vistana (we couldn't get the Grande for the week we wanted). It looks just as nice so we are excited.

It really depends what you would rather be close to. Sheraton Vistana is closer to the airport, Seaworld and Universal. Liki Tiki is closer to Disney. I also believe that Vistana is a bit bigger and more spread out, where as Liki Tiki is a smaller, more walkable property. On the flip side, because Vistana is bigger I think they may have more dining options on site. Liki Tiki has the pool bar/bar food and that's it. But the main road right outside has jst about every restaurant you can think of within 5-10 minutes.

Re: disney timeshare- need help choosing

Orange Lake was where we stayed in Nov and the pool was great (well there were a zillion pools but they were all zero entry with splash features). The units were a bit far from the pool though- at least the ones we were in- so depending where you are on the resort you need to drive to the pool. The units were nice and pretty updated. We stayed in the West Village.

Vacation Village a Parkway was pretty cool if you can trade into there, loved the 2BR unit (it's HUGE) and each complex had a pool. Ours was zero entry and I think most of them were. There was also a main pool which had a lot of kiddie stuff, but really just buy a few pool toys and you don't need all the fancy stuff.

Summer Bay we stayed at in 05 so I'm not sure what it's like now but they nice pool area plus a beach area with lots of activities. A bit farther from Disney.

Re: disney timeshare- need help choosing

If Liki Tiki comes up for her she is part of Interval and they don't exchange with Orange Lake. I'm not sure about Parkway. I know it's part of RCI, not sure about Interval.

Vistana Villages is nice, Vistana Resort not so (much older)
The Villages is in a good location, central to all the parks, about a 15 minute drive in either direction to Sea World, Disney.
There is also a large Publix supermarket nearby.

Stayed at vistana villages in September and love it! Timeshare was very modern and spacious and convenient to Disney. Also many restaurants and stores in driving distance, including outlets. I'd definitely stay there again. Dd loved the pools.
