Disney questions

I'm starting to plan a short trip to Orlando with my family. We will have 3 full days and probably 2 half days. My DS will be turning 6 and my DD will be 3 1/2. We definitely want to spend a full day at Sea World and then do 2 more days at the parks.

The question is, do we need 2 full days at MK or should we do one at MK and one at HS? This will be my kids first trip to Disney and since my DH is not a fan I don't know how many times we will go back. I actually had to split our vacation between Orlando and Miami to get him to agree to Disney.

Anything else that we should do while in Orlando? TIA!!!

Re: Disney questions

If this will be your only trip to disney I would do either 2 days at MK. HS isn't everyone's favorite park - it is a great park but some love it more than others. I would say stick to the main park if you don't plan on going back again. If you planned to do another trip down the road I would say then maybe one day at MK and one day at one of the other parks - but for a one and only trip do 2 days at MK - you know if you go and decide you DON"T need 2 days you can always change your mind while down there and hit one of the other parks - the tickets get you into any of the 4 main parks (and you can do 2 in 1 day if you get a hopper pass) it doesn't limit you to only the MK or only HS. So you could do MK the 1st day and if you don't love it hit HS the 2nd or if the kids are really loving it then just go there 2 days. I would be flexible. Are you sure you would rather to HS over EPCOT or AK?

Re: Disney questions

Ugh! I just typed out a whole response and then it was deleted by my phone! I'll try again.

You touring plan will depend on a number of factors. Will you be traveling at a time when school is out? Will you be staying on property of off? Weekdays or a weekend?

Even if you're going on summer weekends, you can still have a great time. It just takes planning and experience. The more crowded it is, the more important having a plan is.

On a weeklong trip, I always set aside at least 2 days for Magic Kingdom. Since you have a shorter trip, just spend one day there. I would also like for your hubby to see that WDW has more to offer than he remembers.
With a good plan, you can hit the highlights in 1 day.

Why did you choose DHS as the second park? Many people complain this park has the least for kids. Since it is small, you may be able to hit the highlights in 1/2 day. If you chose this park because of Toy Story Mania and/or Jedi Training Academy please ask me about how to do this, as it takes planning. Do you think DH would enjoy thrill rides at DHS? Also consider EPCOT and AK . Lots for the whole family to experience and they are more spread out and less of what people consider "typical Disney". Are you willing to get park hoppers? Will you buy tickets for one or both of the half days? If you have your days I can help you with best/ worst park.

If you are not planning to buy park tickets on your last day, I'd recommend spending the time at a character breakfast in a resort, such as 'Ohana at the Poly (my recommendation) or chef mickeyS. You can some the rst of the day relaxing by the pool or at downtown Disney.

I can help you with a touring plan but in general you will want to get up early and be at the parks before opening, or at what is called rope drop. I cnt emphasize this enough. Even on the busiest days, you can walk on ride fr the first hour or so. The earlier the better! Most people sleep late And start flooding into the parks around 11 or 12. This is the hottest, most crowded time of the day. Your best bet is to get there at rope drop, tour without lines until lunchtime (focusing on the rides that build lines) and then head back to the hotel (this is where staying on property comes in handy) for a naP and a swim, coming back to the same park (or Another if you did All you wanted and have park hoppers) after 4 Pm when it is cooler and the crowds start to thin.
