Disney Q- naps

I am planning to do Disney, Magic Kingdom specifically, hopefully staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

I know my toddler will need a nap. She is not the fall asleep in the stroller type. I want to stay up very late to see the electrical parade, the nighttime fireworks and maybe catch some of the roller coasters for myself before we head home.

Would 3 hours be enough time to get back to the hotel, take a nap and get back into the park?

I was thinking it would be best to leave during the most crowded time, but when is that? 2-5 or 3-6 or 4-7 or 5-8, what do you recommend?

Disney Q- naps

that's what we did. We hit the parks in the morning and then headed back to the hotel around 1:00ish so we could take naps, relax and then headed back to the parks around 4:30-5:00 and stayed to see the night parade and fireworks.

Re: Disney Q- naps

FYI - I am SUPER rigid when it comes to my kids napping and my DS NEVER, EVER sleeps in a stroller. EVER. But at Disney, I just didn't want to leave during the day and wait around for him to sleep for hours so we just did our thing at the parks and he actually fell asleep a few times throughout the day as needed. It worked out surprisingly well and we were able to be in the parks from pretty much open to close. I think when they get tired enough they will sleep anywhere. He was 1.5 yrs old when we were in Disney. Chat Icon

Same. When we've gone, DD has literally passed out in the stroller. I would recommend a stroller fan. And cool cloth, its very hot.

We did naps in the stroller. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (loved it! Definitely do the boat ride to Downtown Disney if you have time and the outdoor evening movie!) and I just couldn't justify all the time it would take to come back for a nap. One day we did MK in the morning then took an afternoon break before going to Epcot for dinner but just relaxed while DS napped in the stroller. It just seemed that by the time you leave the park, wait for the bus, take the ride back to hotel, settle in, nap, do the reverse that a LOT of time would be taken up.

DS napped in the stroller when he got tired, which he would never normally do. DD who was 3.5 and rarely naps even napped in the stroller a few times on the trip.

I should add that my DD does not nap in stroller (ever!) plus we walked back to the hotel (stayed at the Contemporary) so we didn't miss too much going back to the room and relax a bit. It worked for us.

Re: Disney Q- naps

My kids will nap in stroller but our plan is to do Disney in the am, go back to hotel for 1ish, head back to parks for 430-5.

We do this all the time. Hit rope drop, leave after lunch 1 or 2. They used to nap, now they swim and we have down time. We would return around 4 or 5, have dinner and stay until close.

Other days we hit tope drop, stay until 2-3 then head back swim and relax at the hotel, or sleep in, swim and hit the parks after lunch and stay until close.

We went to the Bronx Zoo over spring break and both my boys fell asleep in their stroller, something they never usually do.
We're doing disney next month and honestly I'm not worried, I think they'll just fall asleep when they need the rest. We could go back to the resort on property but I feel like that'll cut out at least 4 hrs. Gonna play it by ear when we get there.

Re: Disney Q- naps

I would plan for 4 hours to leave, nap, and do whatever else (eat or shower) between am and pm visits to the park. Arrive at rope drop, leave at lunch and eat back at the resort (unless you make reservations in MK for lunch - the quick service lines can get really really long). After a nap/shower/dip in the pool, have dinner and head back to the park.

Keep in mind there will be a wait for transportation in both directions.

By 1:00 the parks got crowded. We would leave by 1:30 and return around 5. We would arrive at the parks as early as possible when they were nice and empty.

Re: Disney Q- naps

We retire back to our resort after lunch. Kids nap. Adults need rest too!

The last time we went, I thought our dinner reservations were burdensome. There were a few days that I wish we could have just stayed at our resort. We also had parkhopper tickets so I felt the need to go back or the tickets would be a waste.
