Disney or carribean ?
Which would you do with a 2 & 5 year old? Where would you stay in Disney? On or off property? Thinking of Dominican Republic? Any resorts are good for kids ?

Disney or carribean ?
For that age, I say Disney. Once they are a bit older, maybe do the Carribean.
In terms of resorts, I always stay on property. It's convienient for us - with smaller kids to get to/from park. We stayed at The Contemporary once and Pop Century the other time. Both great. Both different price wise. Find one that fits your budget best!

Disney or carribean ?
yeah, do Disney. I think if you are looking for a relaxing vacation, you might not find it in the carribean with toddlers.
I would do Disney and make sure to schedule a day with no parks and just have a pool day.

Re: Disney or carribean ?
Depends, for me entirely on the time of year you're going to Disney
Disney at peak heat and crowd time, to ME, isn't an option.
If you're going at a low crowd time, I'd do Disney w/ 2 & 5 year olds.

Re: Disney or carribean ?
Have done both & they both have their benefits & negatives.
We love Disney & do it often (always off peak: I couldn't do it peak either & always off site).
We love beach vacays too. We often mix the 2 of them: half Disney, half Florida beach.
We really loved going to Mexico with the kids. Stayed in Cancun. Will def do again. It was amazing.
Wasn't a huge fan of the Disney cruise. I love cruises, just not the Disney ones.

We just went to Disney with our 2 year old and he loved it. We rented a house off property and it was perfect!

Hands down Caribbean, because that's a vacation but I'm anti-Disney so take my advice with a grain of salt! So many posters had wonderful times at Disney, me not so much when I took my stepson, so we have been traumatized ever since!

I cannot even imagine being anti-Disney. It's been 5 years since I last went and I am in major WDW withdrawal.

Re: Disney or carribean ?
NO question, Disney!!! I don't think a Caribbean vacation will be as fun for kids that age. My kids are 2 and 6 and there is no doubt they would want to be at Disney over hanging out on a beach. If you go to Disney, stay on property. It feels like the vacation keeps going even when you're out of the parks, they usually offer some good deals depending on when you go such as free dining, AND you don't need a car because Disney transportation will get you everywhere you need to go.

Next time you go can you take my Son
Idk the lines and it was hot which made it worse. I just prefer the beautiful Caribbean beaches and cocktails while my son plays in the sand or pool! I might do the Disney cruise!

If you can help it, go in the "off" seasons. We pulled DD out of school and went in November. There are barely lines and the weather was so pleasant. I can't tolerate FL/Disney when it's sweltering hot and the lines go on for hours. No thanks. That ruins a trip.
I love the idea of relaxing cocktails on the beach but I'm pretty sure my DS, age 2, would have other plans which would include my chasing him all over the beach and never having a moments rest.
Trade you kids!

Port Orleans Riverside is BEAUTIFUL, we absolutely LOVED it there. If you want to go a little cheaper, Pop Century is very cute!! My kids loved all of the colors and themes at the resort.

I'm anti Disney as well. I have ZERO desire to go and when I read threads on the Disney (I mean Travel) Board here it seals it even more. They have their own language. All these abbreviations. Letters . All these rules. Booking shitt 180 days in advance. I need to go to school to learn about it. It sounds insanely overwhelming and I can't even fathom spending my hard earned vacation time going through all that. I'd be less stressed out at work.
We just did a resort vacation and it was PARADISE! (oh and i booked my "dining" an hour before we wanted to go eat, by just picking up the phone and hitting the dining reservation button, and it was the best meal I have had in a long time!)

Disney or carribean ?
Don't get me wrong, I love my cruises and resorts.... But I always feel fantastic in Disney, I feel like a kid again. I've never found it overwhelming. My mom found it was the only vacation she felt comfortable doing as a a single parent, so we went a lot (I'm sure that has something to do with it).

We just went to Disney and we had the most relaxing time. We did not book one reservation and did not do the fast passes until the night before. Guess what... we still were able to eat and go on rides. Go figure!

I would say Caribbean all the way.
We are just not Disney people. We went last year for a wedding - it was my first time - and just didn't like it at all. Not our thing.
