Disney Newbie ... Please Help

DH and I are planning a trip to Disney in February. We're staying off site. I'd like to buy tickets / Fast Pass only (which, to my understanding, I can do 180 before ... so August). How does Fast Pass work? I need to pick (depending on availability, of course) specific days and times for rides? What happens if there is bad weather? Can I re-Fast Pass for different day / time? I don't have the Disney app, I know I need to download soon.

Fastpass is 60 days before. Dining is 180 days before. So you have lots of time. Yes, you need to pick specific days and you pick a 1 hour window. You can change them, but it will depend on what's left when you try to change it. I can't imagine you having much trouble with weather in February though.

You can make your dining reservations180 days in advance.

Since you are staying offsite, you can make your fastpass reservations 30 days in advance. Onsite guests can make fastpass reservations 60 days in advance.

You need to purchase theme park tickets to get into Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and/or Hollywood Studios. Fast passes are kind of like reservations to ride a particular ride at a particular time. They give you a one hour window to show up for the ride.

Because you are staying offsite, you can make fast pass selections 30 days in advance. You can only reserve 3 rides per day in ONE park, in advance. To make fast pass selections, you must create an account at My Disney Experience.
