Disney Help on where to stay

This is all so overwhelming to me, I am usually the type that goes to the Caribbean & sits on the beach.

Planning a possible trip first week of Dec. traveling with my Husband & 2 kids (ages 4 & 13). We are looking for a clean, fun & moderate place to stay but we need a suite of some kind to separate the kids sleeping area.

My Husband is very picky, but he knows there is no need to spend a fortune for the Hotel in Disney since we won’t be spending a ton of time in the room.

Someone recommended Art Of Animation?

Any other recommendations?

Re: Disney Help on where to stay

We just stayed at the Wyndam in Downtown Disney. It was great. Nice pool. Character dining in the hotel. Shuttle bus every 30 minutes to all parks. Walking distance to lovely Downtown area. We were never at the hotel. Very inexpensive.

Disney Help on where to stay

AoA would be the cheapest suite on property.

What park(s) do you plan to go to? AoA has great suites. If you want cheaper i know one of the All Star resorts has a family suite. If you want to look into it, you could rent points from a dvc member and get a great deal on a 1 bedroom suite at one of the deluxe hotels.

I believe All Star Music would be less expensive than AoA. But, if your husband is picky, he is probably not going to like the value class of resorts at WDW. I think they are fine, kids love them. The rooms are TINY though. The suites are the size of two rooms though. No pool slides, no covered bus stops, no sit down places to eat, full size beds as opposed to queen, thin towels and wash cloths, etc. Like I said, it's fine for most, but just mentioning all this since you said he is picky.

If you aren't opposed to staying at a hotel other than a Disney owned one, look into Wyndham Bonnet Creek. You can get a 1/2/3 bedroom for around $100-$120 a night. Very nice place, nice pools, full kitchen. It's ON Disney property, but you just don't get the Disney perks. It's often listed on ebay, and various other sites as they are timeshares and people sell their ressies.

Art of Animation is VERY much geard for young kids - I don't think yours will appreciate it - it's Nemo/Little Mermaid/Cars themed EVERYTHING

We like the Beach & Yacht Clubs the best ......but you can always stay off property in a suite or condo .....
Most of the Disney Property suites and villas are $$$$$

Re: Disney Help on where to stay

I hear great things about AoA though I have never stayed there....

We stayed off property at Sheraton Vistana Villages last year. Booked through Costco and paid the same price for 2bedroom, 2 bath, full kitchen suite with balcony as we would have paid for a basic room at Pop Century. We were able to make some meals there (mainly breakfast and sometimes lunch) so we didnt have to drag my 2 year old to 3 meals a day! we also had laundry in our room which was great because my little one got sick and threw up all over his clothes and crib, stuffed animals etc and I was able to wash everything.

Another option is check DVC-rental.com He rents out dvc owned timeshares for people who will not be using them. YOu can get them for alot less than you would pay through disney.

Finally another option...a friend of mine used homeaway.com and just booked a whole 3 bedroom house with pool and hot tub for $650 for a week in May.

Good Luck.

PS after staying in the suite at the Sheraton last year I told DH this is my plan for trips until my kids are older. It was sooo nice to have the space to spread out especially bc My younger ds still needed naps. While they are young this is sooo the way to go IMO. We always rent a car even when we stay on property so thats a non-issue for us.

We stay at the Vistana Villages when we go and we love it - it has a great pool area and the suites are great and spacious. It's a short drive to Disney or Universal.

Oops - meant Villages - we've stayed at the Resort and it's nice as well and recently renovated (and a little closer).

I am staying off site at marriott harbor lake in May... It's a timeshare property so there are spacious 2 bedroom suites available with 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen. It has amazing reviews. The pool area looks like a kids paradise. Check it out!

We have stayed here twice on Marriott points, and it's GREAT! LOVED it!

It's a bit of a drive from Disney though with all the traffic

Vistana Villages and Resort have great rates through Dreams Unlimited. Cheaper than booking yourself, but probably more than renting someone else's points.

Disney Help on where to stay

Off property I would highly suggest Orange Lake. Its time shares but you can rent. They have a ton of things to do there so you don't have to do parks everyday. Its a 5 min drive to WDW.

My in laws have a time share there and while it's very nice, some of the units are very, very far from the activities. Nothing was in walking distance. We ended up doing all park days anyway but we realized that if we took a day off we wouldn't have wanted to pack the car to do any of the activities.

It's probably true at some of these other resorts as well because many are so huge.

As far as the lodgings themselves go, you do get more for your money off site. Something to think about if your DH is that picky.

We own here as well and love it! We have stated at Sheraton Vistana and definitely prefer Orange Lake. Yes, it is a huge or opera and you need to drive to different "villages" but we don't mind. We like going to a different pool every day. They each offer something different and we enjoy that.

We stayed at Port Orleans a few years ago. Loooved it! I was too lazy to look up staying offsite and co-ordinating taxis or renting a car, buying park tickets, etc. so I just went on the disney site and made the res.
If we go again I'll definately look into one of the above.

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside the last time we went to Disney and we LOVED it! Beautiful grounds, nice rooms, and affordable......it's considered a moderate priced resort.

We plan on staying there again this fall when we go. Chat Icon

Second POR. But she said she wanted a suite with a second room. POR has a fun Murphy bed you 4 yr old would love but no separate room.

I suggest...
AOA suites, all star has some suites in I think their sports resort.

Also it might be worth looking into renting DVC points and staying in one of the villas. Check out David's.

I am actually in the process of working with David's Vacation Club. The room we want at the Boardwalk is about $1700 less going through David's then booking direct with the Hotel.

It is a good price as long as you are willing to take the risk.
