Dishwasher help
A few weeks ago we had a major meltdown (literally) in our dishwasher. A small plastic piece, from my daughter's sippy cup, fell through the rack and onto the heating coil. Everything smelled of burning plastic, and all of the plastic pieces were melted, including the arm and the cutlery basket. We ordered new pieces and replaced the melted dishwasher parts. We were cleared to use the dishwasher by a appliance repairman that my family always calls. The problem is that there is still a burnt plastic smell emanating from the dishwasher, although nothing is melted when the cycle is finished. It just stinks! If anyone has any recommendations on how to get rid of the smell, I'd truly appreciate it. We're on the verge of just getting a new dishwasher, which we really don't want to do.
TIA

Re: Dishwasher help
i'd say put a coating of baking soda and white vinegar on the bottom and let it sit overnight...the vinegar smell will wear off after a few cycles.

If that doesn't work, they also sell a dishwasher/washing machine/garbage disposal cleaner. I can't remember the name of it, but it comes in a small box and you can usually find it by the detergents. Wal-Mart has it.
