Discipline at 15m... HELP!
So what do you ladies do for discipline.. DD is 15.5m. She's generally sweet but lately is starting to test limits and challenge me. She throws her food and toys everywhere. I find if I leave the room while she is eating she sometimes is better. She started hitting recently too and vehemently shaking her head "no" when she doesn't want something. When she doesn't get her way she bangs her head on the floor (and now that she learned that it hurts she "fake" bangs her head too). My PED said she is a very strong baby (both physically and strong-willed) and I should start discipline now because it will only get worse. She recommended a program called 1-2-3 Magic. Has anyone used this? Does anyone have any other ideas?
My DD is so sweet, she gives kisses to everyone. But she is also becoming a little bratty and I want to try to contain this before it gets any worse. I also feel sort of bad disciplining her at such a young age but I know it's probably necessary.
Do you do time outs at this age? If so, where, and how do you get them to stay? She is still mostly crawling, can take a few steps but isn't really a walker yet. I have no idea where I would even do time out, I dont want to do the crib.
Thoughts or experiences?? TIA.

Discipline at 15m... HELP!
I started Time outs at 10m I did the stern in her face eye contact NO for hitting And yes I flicked her wrist if she crawled into no no areas at 15m She was sternly and LOUDLY told NO! when she tried to grab an electrical cord. She stopped, contemplated then smiled, like "oh me? I was just kidding"
For me if they are smart enough to understand me, they are smart enough to be told no. If they are mobile enough to WANT to be mobile and curious enough to WANT to be entertained then they can understand the words Time Out means, opposite all the good stuff. She thru tantrums and I let her scream it out on the floor. I never gave in and I never let her have what she wanted. You throw your food, you lose your food. When youre starving I know you won't toss it anywhere but in your tummy so choose. I put her in time out on grocery store floors facing boxes of cereal. I've put her in time out at restaurants by turning her away from us and facing nothing in her high chair. I have walked her out of a toy store if she wouldnt put something back and sat her in time out on looking at a wall in a mall. I dont care. You will LISTEN, you will learn. She caught on fairly quickly and knew what time out meant by 20m for sure.

Re: Discipline at 15m... HELP!
I started time outs young as well.
DD was a head banger. It finally stopped, although she did it today which i was surprised at. She would repeatedly bang her head on anything hard, she did on my glass table and let a big bruise and bump on her forehead. We finally set up the pnp, and put her in there until she was old enough to do time outs against the wall. The pnp was the only safe place for to bang her head if she wanted to. Her behavior was a night mare. I was so upset, we didn't/couldn't do anything b/c everything was a fight. this for us lasted a full year from 1-2. Now at 2 ( in may) she has calmed down but we do have tantrums and testing limits still. But I think in more of normal 2 yr old way.
I would start now with time outs. Put her somewhere she can't get hurt but also where she can't have fun.
Sorry you are going through this. It's tough but it does end even though it doesn't seem like it.
Hang in there

Re: Discipline at 15m... HELP!
Someone on here gave me an idea to use the pack n play as a time out place. I have been using it (they are in there for less than a minute) and it seems to be working with my dd. Either she "gets it" or it just distracts her from what she is doing and when she gets out she hasn't been doing it (her issue is mostly climbing and standing on furniture).
I put the pack n play in the spare bedroom with the door open. I put her in and say "we do not climbing on the table" walk away and come back a little bit later and repeat why she is in there.
good luck!

When DS gets really out of hand I put him in the PNP. I even tell him to stop or he's going in, that sometimes works.

Re: Discipline at 15m... HELP!
hahah i was just online looking up "time out chairs"
what is magic 123? do tell!
I totally believe that this is the age TO START discipling. Right now im just doing the stern NO and redirecting. BUT the pack n play is a GREAT idea ! I was told to not use things you WANT them to like/find comfort in (high chair, crib) but we never use our PNP so this would worK!!!

Re: Discipline at 15m... HELP!
I don't believe in time our chairs. The battle to keep them in the char is counterproductive. Put them in a place where they can't get out.... And walk away!
