Dilation & Effacement Question

I am 35 weeks today and just had my first internal. Found out that I am 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. My EDD is July 19. All along I've had a gut feeling that I wouldn't make it til then, but now that I know I am dilated and effaced, what do you think?

Would you mind sharing your progress as far as dilation/effacement and how many weeks you are, when your due date is (or if you already gave birth).

The dr. said I can be 1cm for weeks... but the effacement shocked me. Anyone stay only 1cm for a while? Anyone progress very quickly from one week to the next?

With Ryan at my first internal at 36 wks I was 1cm and 90% effaced. Stayed that way the following week and then had him 10 days early.

With Colin I wasn't dilated at 36 wks and only 50% effaced. By 37 wks I was 1cm and 75% effaced I think and then by 38 wks I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. I stayed like that for nearly a week. I was induced 10 days early b/c his heart rate was a little off

I walked around at 3-4cm dilated and 70% effaced with DS1 for 3 weeks! (I was checked at 35 weeks, delivered him @ 38wks exactly)

I'm now 2cm dilated and 50% effaced, but the doc said it's expected that I will progress a little faster bc this is baby #2.

At 36 weeks I had my first internal. I was 1cm & 50%. Of course they told me this means nothing, I could still be pregnant for 5 more weeks. (which seemed like 10 years at the time )

At 37 weeks I was 2-3cm & 70%. Same thing, this means nothing, you could have hte baby tomorrow, or in a month.

At 38 weeks I was still 2-3cm & 70%. Again, same thing. Doctor actually told me go home, enjoy my weekend, this baby is probably not coming anytime soon!!!!

An hour after that appointment, my water broke, and 4 hours after that DD was born! So ya just never know!!!!

With ds I was closed up at 36 weeks, 1 cm at 37 weeks and 1 cm 50%effaced at 38 weeks. Went back 2 days later and I was 70% and dr told me that he expected me to go into labor within a few days and he was right! Labor started 3 days later!

I was 1cm and 50% effaced from 37w on. I wound up needing to be induced on my DD and ultimately having a c-section. I never made it past 1.5 cm and 75% effacement.

At 35 weeks I was 1cm and 50% effaced. I never went into labor and was induced at 41 weeks. My induction was successful.

I was a finger tip dilated at 36 weeks which went to a full cm at 37 weeks. I was 75% effaced as well. I am now 41w 4d and will be induced on Friday if nothing happens before then.

I was 1-2cm dilated and 25% effaced from 36-39 weeks....no real progress....well I went for my internal with no progress in the AM. Went from nothing to fully effaced and 5cm that night and had DD 4.5 hours later from my first contraction....

I had my first internal last week and my dr said well we know these mean nothing to you

Im 38 weeks and just had my 1st internal on Monday. The baby has "dropped" but I have not dilated yet. Im due July 1st.
