Did you work out while pregnant???



And if so what did you do??

I am early on in pregnancy and have been trying to still excercise. I am just a little nervous since I had a m/c during the summer. My doc said I am ok to continue my regular excercise routine.

So far i have gone running a few times ( very slow jog) and feel great, i will walk on treadmill at incline, I just tried spinning yesterday ( not in a class- just went on the spin bike on gym floor- so i could monitor my heart rate and go at my own speed) and then sometime I will lift very light weights.


Just want to see what everyone else has done...i guess to just give me peace of mind! I want to be able to excercise b/c i get very anxious ( esp after having a m.c) and I need it to help keep me relaxed.

Well, first and foremost - you must follow you doctors advice - he is the only one who knows your history...

with my first pg - which was a singleton - i did not exercise at all...bad...but i wasn't used to exercising at that point.
with my 2nd pg - twins - i was already into it - i was into running - on the treadmill - which my dr okay'd and i continued to do so until about my 5th month - which was when i could no longer breath properly - so i continued to walk....................until about month 7 - than - i could no longer keep it up.

thats my story and i am sticking to it!!!! lol

I continued with my spin classes while pregnant.

I wore a heart rate monitor at all times and made sure I stayed within the range for me.

Most will tell you to keep your heart rate at 140. But since I was used to working out pretty hard before, I was able to go a little harder than 140.

Check with you doctor and be realistic about it. Don't push yourself, but that doesn't mean you have to limit yourself either.

I definitely worked out while pregnant. I swear it cures nausea.

I ran until about 23 weeks(at a slower pace), did spin until 35 weeks, and lifted weights the entire pregnancy.

I always wore my heart rate monitor and didn't work out nearly as intense as pre and post pregnancy. It just felt so good to do it. It made me feel like "me". If your doctor clears you, I would not be concerned.

I agree to clear it with your OB/MW and remember that each pregnancy is so different - even for the same woman.


For my first I was already an avid runner and I ran upto my 5th month. It was really slow! After that, i had some issues with my fluids and it was really uncomfortable. I kept walking, but I remember being 39/40 weeks and crying b/c I couldn't walk the two blocks home. (still gained 66 pounds - they think I had false negative GD test)

During my second, the running stopped abruptly in the beginning. The m/s was so bad that when I ran, I got worse, jiggling everything around. But I was back running at 5 weeks PP

I have heard stories of women running until their 9th month.

Yup I did until about 35 weeks I stopped.

Thanks Everyone!! My Dr said everything was ok to still do as long as I was feeling up for it.

I try to to elliptical and spinning 4 or 5 days. Then lift light weights 2x a week. Also I wear the Heart Rate monitor to just keeo an eye on HR.

So far feeling really good and would like to continue excercise as long as my body & my little bean can handle it.
