I've talked to a few people and they say that it is a pointless product. Diapers are going to smell - period. Just constantly take the garbage out...no sense in trying to seal the smell up.

We registered for the Diaper Dekor because I read such good things about it - plus it can be used for a regular garbage once it's no longer needed for diaper duty.

Re: did You register for a diaper genie?

I opted not to. I will just put the diaper in a small garbage bag and trash it outside after each change.

My son is almost 10 months and I have used the Diaper Dekor and love it. Once they start solids their diapers smell so bad! The Dekor really works. We just change it every 4-5 days.

Andrew's diapers don't smell at all in the Diaper Dekor. We have used it for 7 months.

I can't be bothered after every diaper change to take out the garbage.

I was told the Diaper Champ was good because it uses regular bags and not special bags.

I am not registering for one of those. I will use a garbage pail with a lid and empty it every day.

I agree. Although I have not used it for baby diapers yet, I do use them for the winter when my dogs use the pee pads in the house & I have to say the Diaper Champ is easier to use & did a better job of containing the smell.

Re: did You register for a diaper genie?

NOpe, didn't and glad!

We have a bi level house, and even then i wouldn't leave diapers in her room.

I throw all her diapers inthe trash, keeps everything smelling nice and no reason to spend $$$ on refill bags.

After awhile it doesn't matter what you put your baby's diapers in, you are gonna want them out of your house, THEY STINK! Even the pee!!

I have to say that those diaper bins are a bit of a waste of money IMO, its much easier just to dispose of the poop as it happens...who wants it sitting around the babys room! I had one, emptied it everyday, and the thing still stunk...so guess what....its now in the attic!!

eta...after about 3 months we stopped changing the kid upstairs and just did all diaper changes in the living room, so we just took the diapers into the kitchen. Product Redundant.

I got one, but never used it. I just throw out poop ASAP and pee once a day.

Re: did You register for a diaper genie?

Waste of money IMO. For poopy diapers we just put them in a plastic bag and dropped them in the main trash. DH takes the trash out almost every evening. Even when we used to change him upstairs, we'd bring the poop diapers downstairs since we don't throw the trash upstairs as often.

I registered for this one because it takes regular kitchen sized garbage bags. no need to go out and get the "special" refills.

With more than 20 diaper changes a day when they first come home, and a two floor house, I'll keep mine upstairs but I'm sure it will be emptied every day anyway.

thats what I did and will do now.
I tried these and didn't like it or get it.
A fermented diaper will stink.
I just take it out immed.

This might be logical for someone in a house who can take it outside - but we live in an apartment whose trash bins are on the far side of the complex - a few blocks away - they only collect the garbage Mon - Sat mornings and you can not leave garbage outside of your apartment at night - so I can only throw trash out each morning and Sundays we walk ours across the complex. So I need something that will hold the smell until the morning collections.
