Did you have a sprinkle for 2nd or 3rd child?

I did not have a sprinkle for my second DS.

I am now pregnant with a girl and my friends want to throw me a sprinkle. I gave everything away from my 2 older boys. I originally declined but my friends said I should get girl stuff for the new baby.

I did not, but I had my kids fairly close together and needed nothing.

In your case I would not hesitate to let your friends throw you a small sprinkle.

Yes.
I see it as a baby celebration & have been to tons of sprinkles for the 2nd & 3rd.
They are usually more low key and presents are different (smaller).

I would totally have one

I never get the problem
With this. I would buy my friend a gift regardless. Why not do it over lunch etc

I do not think I will for this pregnancy but I threw one for one of my girlfriends for baby #3.

I didn't. Different genders, but I had all the big stuff from my older DC.

I was in the same boat and felt the same as you. I had two DSs and was pg with my DD earlier this year. Had a shower with my first but nothing for my second DS. Everyone said I should have a sprinkle bc it's a girl plus the age difference. So I agreed to have one, but just small for family. I felt funny making it bigger bc I didn't want people to think it was a gift grab.

(I went into preterm labor and she was born three days before my sprinkle so we didn't make it!)

But if it's small and there's a big age split, I say go for it.

And congrats on your baby girl. It is so great!

I did not but I think it's nice that your friends want to do that for you. It's a nice way to celebrate you and your new baby.

Re: Did you have a sprinkle for 2nd or 3rd child?

I didn't, but I had 3 boys fairly close together. In your case, since it's a girl I would definitely have one. We had one for my sister when she had her 4th because there was a 5 year gap. I thought it was so nice and it's great to get some fresh things.

I had one my for my second which was a different gender. I didnt include the registry info on the invite but did register for a few things. This helped when people asked my mom where i was registered. I mainly received clothing which is what i needed.

I had one... I didn't ask for it, and I felt funny about it, but my sister, one of my best friends and even my daughter (who was seven at the time) insisted that it needed to be done. It was very low key. But then again, so was my first... both were just held at my house. It was really nice and even though I honestly wasn't expecting gifts for my second, people were so generous. I was besides myself.

For what it's worth, my kids are seven years apart AND my younger one is a boy and my older is a girl.

I didn't have any - if they want to do something small for you - go along. If you want just keep it to your friends if you feel funny about it.

this is what i was gonna say! friends and close family will probably get your a gift no matter what (especially if its a different gender!) so why not do it over lunch or something?
if you feel funny about it, just keep it small and maybe have it at somebody's house, just like a apps and drinks kind of thing?
but i don't see a problem with it, if its different genders, or a big age difference between babies...

Did you have a sprinkle for 2nd or 3rd child?

I had one for my DS after I had a larger shower two years prior for my DD. My mom threw both and it was awesome. I got everything I needed and it was nice to celebrate both babies.

no my mom wanted to throw one from me but I really didn't need anything I bought all gender neutral stuff so I was able to use them for both kids. Only thing I did need no one was going to buy for me. Instead I had gender reveal/house warming party.

I think you having one is no big deal plus arent there a few years between your kids?

Yes. One of my girlfriends threw me a sprinkle. It was just a few local friends going out to dinner. My job also threw me a sprinkle for DD2.

I threw one for a friend, just very close friends and the baby's grandparents.

I didn't have one, but it would have been nice. I don't think a second shower is always appropriate, but it's not to celebrate every baby :)

I didn't but with a different gender arriving, I say you should let them throw you one.

Re: Did you have a sprinkle for 2nd or 3rd child?

I did not but plent of friends brought gifts the first time they met the baby! I think either way is fine!

I will say it's a newer thing as my mom thought it was unnessecary/strange That I am planning one for my friend having her 3rd ( twins are 3)

I didn't have one & I''m going to go against popular opinion & say I'm not a fan. if your close friends are doing something really small with just them then that's different but a party with invitees I think is just a gift grabber as someone put it. Most family & friends will buy you clothes once baby is born
