Did you have a really good and thoughtful gift?

I don’t want to start this out as some kind of competition on who got what.

SO and I always do experience gifts. This year he surprised me and hid the gifts. He got me a bottle for my water, a phone charger that I had lost and wanted a replacement, and the best gift of all— he got socks printed up with all of my cats on them (I have 3).

I love the socks!

So what thoughtful things did you get?

Nada, zilch. I'm pretty thoughtful in gifts but it's never reciprocated. I've accepted it Chat Icon

My DH is usually the worst gift giver. Normally his gifts for me are really gifts for himself or they're things that just make no sense.

But, this year he gave me a bunch of tea and a tea infuser. I thought it was really thoughtful, because it means he noticed I was drinking a lot of tea, and he clearly put some thought into getting some different types and styles of tea for me. I was really excited to get such a thoughtful gift from him (especially because he gave me a really awful birthday gift).

Re: Did you have a really good and thoughtful gift?

DH and I did not exchange gifts.

We booked our two week vacation in July and will use whatever money we would have spent on gifts for things to do while in the islands or buying something while there.

At Cousin Christmas, there is a game played where everyone draws a number then chooses either a gift or to steal someone else's gift. The last number is the best - more options to steal.
I wound up with an electric smores maker Chat Icon that I will never use.
DH got a ceramic baking pan.
Meanwhile, we contributed a Shiatsu neck massager, and a gift basket of hot cocoa mixes, mugs and cookies that I put together.

Re: Did you have a really good and thoughtful gift?

This year my DH got me mostly what i asked him for and some extras I sorta knew was coming (every year he buys me Halloween stuff for decorating our house - it's my fav holiday and we throw a party every year)

He sorta Shit the bed with my main gift though and we had a nice Christmas fight lol. I asked him for a facial from my favorite place. I open my gift and its a massage, facial and foot massage from a place nearby but not my usual place. I looked at him and he said the lady i always go to was closed for a surgery or something so he asked our neighbor what other place is good. OK. Why would I be annoyed at such a generous gift? Because I went to this place last year and was inured during a massage. My skin was rubbed off on the top of my back PLUS I could swear the girl was either new or high towards the end of the massage (Where she also rubbed my shoulder fo r2/3 of the massage and I kept asking her to move along)

Long story - but in the end, you would think my HUSBAND would remember what happened and the shit show that followed. especially when he took the pictures of my back for me!!!

It wasn't pretty. But I didn't let it ruin the entire day. Now I HAVE to use this gift card but may try another location OR go to someone at this location that is recommended.

So HE TRIED to be thoughtful and wound up being thoughtless Chat Icon

But my fave gift I got was a pink pen that said mom with a homemade card. Runner up was this super insane soft infinity scarf that had a zipper pocket for stuff - my sister got it for me.

Yeah I'd rather cash than a thoughtful gift that I probably don't really need anyway come to think of it ...
This way I can be thoughtful to myself! Chat Icon

Got a few very nice gifts, but my brother really appreciated the gift I got for him. He just has surgery for melanoma on his head, (which thankfully was completely successful!) and knows he will ALWAYS wear a hat when he goes out, from now on. So, I got him a "box of hats" - all different types of hats for him to wear year round. Some baseball hats, some knit hats, a fedora etc. He loved it and also really appreciated it.

The socks are really sweet and it's nice to see your SO is good with the cats since I know your ExH was not so nice about them....

Well the Ex was OK with the cats when he was with me. Not the best, though. My girl cat was totally in love with my Ex. She just loves people. I can bring her anywhere and she is just great. I brought her up to my neighbour’s The other night and she was really good. The other two are shy and only like me. The one telling thing is that when my ex came to pick up his stuff, she wouldn’t go near him. She only wanted to be by SO. That was so unlike her. All the cats love SO.

Animals can really see things that humans can’t.

How awesome that he put thought and care into your gift!

Over the summer, I started a part time job with an airline. In the fall we'll be empty-nesters and we're looking forward to traveling the world together, my DH bought me a travel journal, a Kate Spade watch with Europe on the face (I work for an Irish airline) and passport cover. I LOVE everything.

My dh got me 2 great comfy casual sweaters (hoods, kangaroo pocket). I LOVE them and thr best part is that he noticed that I have work clothes and run-down around the house clothes, but that I have a gaping hole in the area of casual family day out clothes. Just his awareness was so sweet!

My mom passed away this year and it's been tough.

My husband got my mom's finger print and put it on a heart charm with a necklace. I sobbed like a baby.

My sister in law got me an ornament with the last picture that my brother, niece and I took with her.
