Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
Mine is scheduled at my obgyn's office at 10am.
I can't remember what I did for my first pregnancy. I think I wasn't sure what to do then either.

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
the instructions I received for pg #1, was just to stop eat 1 hr before having to drink the soda, which was 1 hr before the actual test
So technically stop eating 2 hrs before blood draw

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
yes, but the nurses told me it's not necessary, just not to eat anything sugary the day before . I was a little annoyed about that because there are carbs in so many different things, not just sweets--so I just fasted starting at midnight the night before and avoided their advice. Please note though that my husband is a type I diabetic so I've sat with him through many different types of blood tests--I'm not usually one to defy doctors/nurses orders!
ETA: I also took the test at 6am, so I'm not sure if that changes anything!

I was told not to fast for the 1 hour, but definitely had to fast for the 3 hour. Everyone gets different instructions, so I would double check with your OB.

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
I was told I didn't have to and wound up failing by 13 points! My appt was at 3:45 and my lunch break isn't until 1:20 so I didn't have the option to fast and ate too close to my appt in my opinion.
So today, I had to sit through the 3 hour which was torture!!!! So if you have the option to fast, I would.

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
I was told to eat like normal and NOT to fast with a stress on the NOT from my doctor (been the same instruction all times I have taken it - 3rd pregnancy and had GD with 1st pregnancy so I have taken it many times). I have only fasted for the 3 hour. I took my 2nd 1 hour last week (took them at 10 weeks and passed and now again at 26 weeks) and ate a normal breakfast and went about 2 hours later. I haven't called for the results yet - I have an appt later this week.
Although I did fail it with pregnancy #1 and #2 and both times I did fast for the 1 hour (not on purpose but just went first thing in the morning b/c when I had child care or could fit it in). So who knows if it really does matter. I was explained you can throw off results by fasting.

Don't fast unless they tell you. If you need to fast, east something after the test. Your blood sugar takes a dive after the test is over causing some people to faint.

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
i did not have to fast. I just ate very light that day. I tried not to eat anything with sugar or that would break down as sugar in my body.

I fasted though they said I didn't have to. My appointment was at 9:30am so it was easy. I passed it...

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
Ask your OB...
Mine told me not to fast, and to eat a good non sugary breakfast, and no coffee or juice.. and to have finished eating by an hour before I had the drink.
I ate breakfast (a cheese omelette) at 7:30, took the glucose drink at 9am, and had blood drawn at 10.
Passed with an 85!
Based on what I know about nutrition and diet, I would think fasting would make your levels go a little cray cray once you have the drink..but I'm no doctor. That's JMO

Re: Did you fast before your 1 hour glucose test?
no, and mine was at 6:30 at night. I was just careful not to eat too much sugar or carbs that day.
