Did Stony Brook Tour
Ladies,
I have been there to see friends and their babies but never went to the new wing (since I used to candy stripe over there years ago). It was amazing. The labor and delivery room was HUGE. Wooden floors, couch, tv, bathroom, all super clean and nice.
The recovery area was nice because it was a large space but you are the only one per section so no sharing.
Maternity is great as well, rooms are private and large enough. We saw one baby in the nursery and it was great.
There is a fridge for you to use and juice and crackers and sometimes sandwiches for you. There is a microwave on the 5th floor you can use.
Starbucks is open til 12am 
It was VERY warm on the maternity floor, just be prepared, I was sweating in a short sleeved shirt.

We went on Saturday! Were you there Sat or Sun? I was also really impressed with the new rooms, but surprised at how very hot it was!

Thanks for posting! I've delivered twice at SB but haven't seen the new L&D section yet. Do you know if they had a microwave that you could use during labor? (I want to bring a rice heating pad that goes in the microwave during labor).....

It is so nice! I will be delivering at Stony Brook as well. I delivered at a different hospital the first time around and it was hot as heck that time too. I made sure my bag is packed with tank tops and short sleeve night gown.
My DH will be loving the starbucks!

They didn't say during labor but since it's on the same floor, I would hope they would let you use it.
