Did anyone's dr. not oder bloobwork until the 2nd trimester?

When I went for my 8 week visit I asked my doctor if she was going to take any blood. She said that there was no point in doing bloodwork so early since she had to take take blood at my 12 week visit anyway and there was no point in poking me twice. When I went to my 12 week visit, she said she would do the bloodwork at my 16 week visit.

Should I be concerned that she is not taking blood until this late? I heard most doctors test your first visit for any diseases that can be passed on to the baby . . .

Or does not it not really matter when she does the testing?

I had blood taken at 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, and again at 11 weeks.

The first 2 times it was to check if my levels were going up

8 weeks- my Dr. took blood to see what Im immune to for example 5th disease...but Im a teacher and exposed to a lot of children's diseases

and the last one at 11 week it was to begin the genetic testing.

Mine didn't do bloodwork at my 6 or 10 week appointment. She told me she only does blood work in the first trimester if she suspects a problem such as a history of miscarriage, family history of genetic issues, symptoms that concern her, sonogram seems off or you request it.

She is going to do blood and urine at my next appointment. I will be in my second trimester at that point.

Mine did a full round of bloodwork at my first real appointment after confirming the pregnancy, I think around 10 weeks.

I'm over 35 though, so I think she has ordered more tests for me in general. I'm not sure if everyone gets this.

I got a TON of vials taken at my first (8 week) appt. There were a number of things these checked for, incl the Ashkenazi Jewish disorders (DH is Jewish). I got more taken at 12 weeks to go along with the ultrascreen.

Honestly, I may just be in the dark but I've never heard of not having any bloodwork done in the first trimester

i've been giving blood since my 1st appointment at 4 weeks .. a few visits there was none but the past few again

I only had blood taken around 16 weeks.
