Did anyone successfully gender sway? No drama please!
Let me just preface by saying that I will love and cherish ANY baby that comes my way. I know that there are couples who have a lot of trouble ttc and I honestly pray that your dreams come true.
DH and I have a 9 1/2 month old and we are thinking of ttc#2.
I can't help but hope for a little . I keep looking at all the little dresses, seeing mommies and daughters at the nail salon, etc, and I'd LOVE to have that special bond one day that a girl and her mother can share.
Has anyone done the gender swaying methods?
I see the two main ones are Shettles and 0+ 12. I've got to laugh though b/c the core of those methods are opposite one another, lol. For a girl, Shettles says 2-3 days BEFORE O and for 0+12 you are supposed to 12 hours AFTER O.
Just curious if anyone has any experience

Re: Did anyone successfully gender sway? No drama please!
we were going to try for a girl...but then we said F it b/c it seemed like way too much work and we just wanted to wing it when it came to . we wanted either sex but i love little girls! then i lost the pregnancy (which to me actually felt like a boy) and we could have cared less if it was a boy or girl - and it's going to be the same for next time. after this experience we just want a healthy baby and pregnancy that progresses more than anything.
trying for a boy seems a lot easier.
there are foods they say to eat or not eat to increase your odds of a girl. i remember trying to follow that loosely figuring it was something i could do that might boost our odds a little bit but it wouldn't interfere with
if you google you will find tons of info

I have never heard of this before. That is very interesting! I wonder if it's really proven effective or if it's all coincidence?
I can barely be bothered counting my O days so I certainly won't be getting involved with that whole to-do!

Honestly I think most of these methods are a bunch of bs. We the day before ovulation and the day of. In the case of gender swaying it would have predicted boy! NOPE!! we are having a little ! I think you get what god wants you to have.
And just knowing pregnancy is so fragile and such a huge blessing, I could careless of the gender! I just wanted a healthy baby and pregnancy.

Totally- b/c u r supposed to on O so u can just use an OPK.
Figuring out what days are "2-3 before O" is a drag that could take months of charting!

Honestly I think most of these methods are a bunch of bs.
At first the Shettles seemed to make sense. He says that boy sperm swim faster and die sooner. Girls swim slower and live longer. Therefore early gives girls a chance to get to the egg while the boys don't live during the wait for the egg.
THEN I read 0+12 and it throws all that out the window, lol- so yeah seems like it could be all bs!

i don't think it is all BS...a lot of it makes sense to me....like with the way the sperm react to the environment and swim, the ph of the vagina, timing (it's a huge factor in conceiving in general) those things seem like they really do play a role...a small role, but a role...and if you can manage to alter all of those scenarios to favor one side it has to increase the oods slightly.

I find it interesting that boys seem easier. I always felt girls were easier-if there is truth the sperm living longer. They can kind of just hang out and wait. I felt like getting a boy was a one shot deal.

Yes we did for DD and DS. Worked both times. I read up on shettles and other supplements for DS b/c we really wanted a boy.
I see nothing wrong with trying to sway. It's not to say you wouldn't be happy with whatever but there is no harm in trying.

For DD did you chart for a while? We kind of want to get going this month so I'm torn.
We were thinking of winging it after AF and then using an OPK to stop dtd once there is a smiley (the prob with that though is if I wait for the smiley to stop it might be too close to O since it predicts 24hrs and you want to stop 48+ hours before). So then I was thinking of stopping once the lines seem like they are getting darker (judging from what I've read you can open the opk and get an idea from the shade of the line as to whether you are getting closer to your smiley).
PS Thanks for reminding me it is ok to have hopes for a specific gender. I was nervous to start this thread b/c I didn't want to offend anyone with trouble ttc.

Re: Did anyone successfully gender sway? No drama please!
No with DD I actually did the least amount of research. We just BD before ovulation and only on the day of the positive OPK not after.
With DS I did more research. We waited for the positive OPK before we started to BD. I also took evening primrose and I think something else. I don't remember.
ETA: I totally don't think there is anything wrong with wanting a specific gender. It's not like you're going to give it back if it's not what you wanted. I wanted a boy so badly after DD and I had to really stop and prepare myself that it could be a girl and I just came up with all the reasons another DD would be great as well. We did get a boy and I was thrilled but I knew I would be equally as happy with a girl. Even having trouble conceiving #2 and #3 I still think it's OK to want a specific gender. I will say for #3 I totally don't care either way.

Re: Did anyone successfully gender sway? No drama please!
I did, but not intentionally.
With my son, we BD'd on CD 10 and 12. I got a positive OPK on CD12, and I O'd on CD 13.
With my daughter, we BD'd on CD 12, because I assumed that I would O on CD13 (based on my previous cycles). I actually O'd on CD14 that month.
So for me it worked perfectly

Re: Did anyone successfully gender sway? No drama please!
Ive heard to not DH let "them" out for 1 week. girls are stronger and live longer and all the boys will die off in that time. if nothing else you chances of a girl are higher. But I don't know if that works out either.
I would prefer and DH would prefer but at this point I would be happy with a healthy baby any way you cut it
