Re: Did anyone do an alternative vaccination schedule?

I delay DC's vaccines. And I never give more then 2 at a visit. I try to really only do one at a time.

Re: Did anyone do an alternative vaccination schedule?

Yes...no more than 2 shots per visit. When it's a combined shot like DTaP, that's the only thing he gets that day.

I followed Dr. Sears but tweaked it a little bit based on other research I did. Instead of being done with the first group of vaccines (before 1 yr. old) at 6 months, we were done at 9 months, which I don't feel is that bad.

We will delay MMR til 2-2.5 years, and chicken pox sometime around there too.

Re: Did anyone do an alternative vaccination schedule?

I'm not sure if you have this one or not, but, Dr. Sears wrote a book and proposed an alternate vaccine schedule. There are other ways to split shots up, his is just one schedule. There's also a national watchdog organization that provides consumers truthful information on all vaccines, which is sometimes omitted from medical literature. It's called the National Vaccine Information Center and has some good articles. The concept of vaccinations is so overwhelming, I wish you luck as you make the best decision for your DS.

Re: Did anyone do an alternative vaccination schedule?

Yes. We have decided to do only 1 shot at a time. DD is 6.5 months and has had only 3 shots (2 Prevnar, 1 Dtap). My personal feeling is that I want to wait so that her immune system is more mature before she gets most of her vaccinations, but still do some vaccines because I know that the disease can be dangerous for her as well. I liked The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears.

I basically worked off this book. Although their six month shots were delayed much longer than I wanted to due to illness and they are getting them tomorrow at 1 yr old. I will probably wait on the MMR until 18-24 mos as they are not in daycare
