Diapers questions
Should I return one pack of 216 size 1's for a 96 pack of newborns or will I need all those size 1's and just buy the NB size. Also, someone made me a diaper cake. Would you use those diapers? They are all rolled up, as in the inside hasn't been touched. They look really tiny but they have a 1-2 on them...how do I know what size they are

Re: Diapers questions
well, first I'd plan on using the diaper cake diapers... see if you can sort out the 1's from the 2's, and then do an inventory on both.....
I have no idea if Scone will need newborn diapers... I think it depends a bit on the brand. 7th generation runs almost a full-size smaller than others, so I bought a pack of 1's to start.
I wonder if the baby bargains book has a breakdown on how much of each size we generally will need

Re: Diapers questions
You're going to need all the diapers you can get... so keep those size 1s, and get a NB as well.
As for the diaper cake, I never used the diapers from my cake with DS. They didn't seem "tough" enough, and I felt like they might leak, or seep out the smelly stuff. lol

Re: Diapers questions
Size 1-2 is an in between size. (the wholesale clubs usually carry them).
I would just keep what you have and not buy anything else. Quite frankly, you do NOT know what size or how quickly your baby will grow out of the diapers or what brand you'll end up preferring. I'd rather you use up what you have, than stock up on a size/brand you may not end up using all together.
Also be sure to take all that they give you at the hospital.
HTH!

It does! From memory, I believe it says to get a 96 pack of newborn diapers and a 96 pack of stage 1 to start.

Re: Diapers questions
Landon never wore newborns... he wore size 1's from the beginning. He is now in size 2-3 at not even 2 months old! SO I would NOT stock up on small sizes because you never know how big your baby will be... And yes, I did use the diaper cake diapers.

Re: Diapers questions
I tihnk you should keep what you have, and I would also pick up a package of the NB size- they used the size 1's (pampers) in the hospital for but once we got home we used the NB size- they fit her so much better- the box says they are good up to 10 lbs... we went through that box of 92 in about a week...

Re: Diapers questions
I would keep the size 1's. They tend to grow out of the newborn size pretty fast, and they stay in size 1's for a little while. I would keep the ones from the diaper cake too. The size 1-2 can fit when they are transitioning from 1 into 2. I got a whole nuch of that size, and they fit my DS when he was still in size 1's and when he got into 2's.

completely agree. i go through over a pack a week. at least 6-8 a day.NBs fit SO much better than the 1s they used in the hospital. i just started him in 1s at 3.5 weeks because i have so many and didn't want to spend another $20 for a week of diapers
1-2 is a size. i know pampers makes them
the point of a diaper cake is to give diapers. i'm not sure why you wouldn't use them. even though someone touched them, diapers aren't sterile so you should definitely use them. and if you won't, don't throw them out! heck, i'll take them off your hands! you have no idea just how quickly a box is used!

Re: Diapers questions
Someone made me a whole diaper cake of NB diapers (300 of them!!)...
baby is estimated to be born at 9 lbs so I am guessing we wont use any of the NB diapers....
I went out and bought a 216 count size 1 Pampers and I regifted the diaper cake to a coworker of mine whose wife just gave birth to a 5 1/2 lb. baby!!!

Great idea!!!!
I have to say though, the weight estimates are just that. DS was estimated to be 8 1/2 lbs. The next day, when he was born, he was 7 lbs, 4 ounces.

Re: Diapers questions
We got 2 diaper cakes. The first one I was a typical "new mom" and threw out all the diapers thinking they'd be dirty.
Then I spoke to my sister (mother of 2 and preggo with #3) who said they'd be no dirtier than a diaper sitting in a diaper bag for a week.
So with diaper cake #2 we kept. They were all size 1 diapers.
DS was born at 9lbs 3oz and if I remember correctly we used approximately 150ish newborn diapers. We didn't actually buy any of them, all were gifted.
Since about 3 weeks he has been in size 1.
Hope that helps and doesn't confuse you more

Re: Diapers questions
I say don't go crazy with the NB Diapers, my hospital only uses size 1 diapers (not matter what size the baby is).
I think with DS I used one package of NB (He was 6 lbs 10 oz at birth) then right to Size 1

Re: Diapers questions
Also keep in mind the estimated weight is only an estimate. I was told I would be lucky to have a 4-5 lbs baby. He was 6 10oz, 3 weeks early. If I went out and got all premmie stuff, I would have been in trouble
