Diaper rash on Private Parts?
So DH went to change DD's diaper this morning and he said her "pp bum" (that's what we call it, passed down from my irish mum) was really red. I changed her next diaper and wow--it is really red. I cleaned and dried it thoroughly and put A&D on it. It is possible to get diaper rash on the privates? Does it have to be treated differently than a "bum" rash?

DS had redness on his little penis and dr said to just use balmex or desitin. Cleared right up! But I'd check with your dr to see what they say.

It could be a yeast infection, my neice started getting them very young.
Call the ped and see what they say

I would call the ped. When my DD gets them on her privates it's usually a fungal infection and needs a prescription.

Not all fungal infections require an Rx. Abby had one. We took her to the pediatrician. He said put an over the counter Lotrimin on it for 4 days 2x a day and if it did not clear up THEN we were to fill an Rx for a more potent cream. He did also say not to stop using it til it cleared up completely because the rate of recidivism is high with that type of thing. In either case, I would have it looked at as every child is different.

the only thing that helps us is triple paste and then a&d over it.... nothing works like triple paste! worth the money!

My DD gets this, from her jumperoo. I put desitin on and give the jumperoo a rest, and it goes away.
Keep an eye on it, could be a fungal or yeast infection starting.
Try letting her parts air out, no stress on them (jumperoo, sitting on a knee, etc) and see what happens.

yeah AJ got a fungal infection... SOOO red. 
we used three types of prescription cremes until we found one that works.
Id second seeing your pediatrician

When DD gets a diaper rash in is everywhere. Our ped said to use triple paste or Aquafore and it usually clears right up.
