I agree. Remember also that they had a son who survived, but is still suffering from lasting injuries. Perhaps the $$$ will go toward future treatments for him. He is an innocent in all of this as well and would be deserving of the money.
Yes! I forgot about the son. So sad for all involved. I even feel bad for the husband in a way..even though he denied, denied, denied.. my heart goes out to all of them.
This is what makes me sad. This little boy is constantly forgotten about. Barely any fundraising has been done for him, if any - only for the Hance sisters. People think Diane's husband played some role in this by "knowing" she had a "problem", but he's still a man grieving the loss of his wife and daughter while trying to stay strong for his surviving son.
He watched his mother, sister, and cousins die in a horrific way. He's going to need money for medical procedures, therapy, college, etc. I'm not saying I'm for the movie, but I don't believe the money will be spent frivolously.
Yes and nobody talks about poor Erin either. RIP sweet little girl!

I can't believe they would make a movie about it - seems ridiculous and insensitive...

8 people including children are dead in a horrific accident, and that is supposed to be a movie of the week ?
That is absolutely disgusting.
completely agree!
Seriously. And what might the ending be? We already know the ending. 8 lives, 7 of which were innocent, were lost. Do I need to WATCH it? What big story of her life is there that I am missing other than she was drunk and high and had a lack of regard for human lives besides her own????

While I do agree with making a profit to go on vacation, I would be OK if the money was then used for the surviving victims and families well being.
As for the movie itself, no, its true, does anyone need to see something so horrific become a "lifetime movie"...no.
However, I will wait to see how the movie plays out before I decide how I feel about it. If ONE, just ONE person who drinks and drives watches it, and decides to never do that again, if people take away a lesson from it. Then those little children, and other victims DID NOT die in vain. Their story may profoundly effect how someone else behaves and make them think twice about getting behind a wheel. If this movie, which leads to that decision saves just ONE life, then to me, it was worth it and something good has come from their deaths.

Disgusting.
There was never really any doubt about this though was there? I am sick for the little boy who survived, and SICK for the Hance family who lost all 3 of their children. I cannot imagine why ANY of them would want to be part of any movie regarding this horrific event.
I know I am in the minority here, but I think that her husband knew she was drunk and stoned. I also do not think this was the first time she drove drunk, probably not the first time she did it with her kids in the car.
SOMEONE had to know. SOMEONE saw her before she got behind the wheel. Thats all I am saying.

I read a couple interesting pieces today after seeing the story on LoHud. One was HERE and the other was in NY Mag. Her husband came across as totally oblivious, and a couple things she did should have set off alarms, if he'd been paying attention. I don't know if it's deep denial or if he really was just totally clueless about her. But he also worked a totally opposite schedule from her, which would make it easy to ignore or not see the drinking. There's no way she didn't have a habit IMO.
