Diagnosis= Unexplained

Update on me. Did all of our testing this month. HSG all clear- thought they saw a polyp so Saline Sono- all clear no polyp. My CD 3 BW was good. My vitamin D and Prolactin were a little off. I have to take vitamin D supplements and have that tested again in a few weeks. I have to get my Prolactin tested again when I fast. Going to do that on CD 3. Just got a call this weekend that DHs SA was all normal!

So we are unexplained. Been off BC for 17 months now and nothing. Currently 4 DPO. Will be starting Clomid and IUI next cycle which should start March 1st.

Anyone who is Unexplained have success or know someone who had success? The stats for conceiving on our own for unexplained are pretty terrible.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Diagnosis= Unexplained

I was diagnosed with unexplained IF. All testing kept coming back normal, just for some reason I wasn't ovulating regularly and couldn't get pregnant.

My first cycle with an RE I took Metformin (1500mg) and after three months I ovulated, we did an IUI, and I conceived my DD.

TTC #2 was harder. I was on Metformin again but also Clomid as well. That year we ended up having 3 miscarriages and a few other failed IUI's. We ran out of IF coverage so we took over a year off. Went back to the RE and paid OOP for one last IUI, this time with injectables and unfortunately that failed too.

Three months after that IUI we conceived all on our own.........no meds, no doctors, no procedures. Our son is due in just 4 weeks. Go figure! It was a total and complete shock given our history.

It was frustrating having a diagnosis of unexplained IF but luckily it all worked out in the end. Lots of luck to you!!!!! Hope you get your BFP soon!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Diagnosis= Unexplained

DH and I were in the same boat with unexplained IF. I also had low Vit D levels, took prescription Vit D for 12 wks, then just added a reg Vit D supplement to my prenatals. I did 3 cycles of Clomid with OPKs, temping and accupuncture. No luck. Then out of nowhere we got pregnant on our own when we weren't even "trying". Unfortunately I had an early m/c and lost that baby. 2 months later we decided to move forward with Clomid and IUI and we got pregnant again. I'm now 15 weeks.

I know unexplained IF is hard to deal with b/c you feel like you don't have any answers, but for us, we tried to look on the bright side and realize at least there was nothing seriously wrong with either one of us.

Good luck to you and feel free to FM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info. What a great story conceiving on your own after all of that. I am ovulating so that is a good thing! I have been temping and using OPKs for a long time also. Everything looks good with us so I should stay positive about that. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. Thank you!

Thanks for the info. I am not on prescription vitamin D just added in a supplement since my levels weren't too far off. My RE said to come back in 4 weeks for BW. OMG thats crazy that you got preg when not even trying. Glad the Clomid and IUI worked for you. Thats what I'll be doing next cycle so I hope it works. I agree that I should look at it like there isn't anything seriously wrong with us. Trying to stay positive. Thanks and good luck.

Diagnosis= Unexplained

I had a very similar story to the girls above.
Was off BC for a year.... Used Ovulation tests and TI for 6 months ......had a HSG followed by a failed iui with clomid... Did the laparoscopy histeroscopy, followed by failed iui on higher dose of clomid. ... Followed by failed iui with Injectables.... DH and I decided enough is enough.....by the way all of this was out of pocket due to my job being through catholic health center. Got everything set up for IVF... Meds,( thank goodness it was donated ). Got a personal loan to pay for it.... Decided to take a month off for mental health to prepare for the long journey. No TI or ovulation tests. And I got pregnant on my own ... I am now 16 weeks!! So as the others have said . It is very frustrating to have no answers to grab onto but try and see the flowers through the weeds. There is nothing majorly wrong with either of you .... And apparently for quite a few couples it does eventually just happen when you least expect it... Good luck to you guys!

Thanks. Sorry about your failed IUIs. BUT OMG that is amazing about getting ready for IVF and then getting preg on your own. I guess you really never know. You are right there is nothing majorly wrong with us so that is good news. It may just take some extra work. Happy and healthy pregnancy for you.

I was also unexplained. Every test I had was perfect and you could set a timer to my period. I could even feel myself ovulating. Tried on our own for 9 cycles, then did 9 iuis, both regular and injectibles and nothing. I also had low vitamin d but taking a supplement still didn't get me pregnant.

My first round of ivf was successful and I have a 5.5 month old baby.

I suspect I have mild microscopic endo, even though I don't have any systems. A lap was discussed however the way around endo is ivf. So an unnecessary surgery in my eyes. I hear a lot that pregnancy can correct unexplained and am hoping that is the case for baby number 2.

Good luck!

We were unexplained.
Tried IUIs. Had 1 early chemical, all the rest were negative.
Got preganant w/ twins the first round of IVF. Conceived DS#3 on the first try....no drugs. I know how much it sucks to hear that diagnosis, but lots of people have babies were had that diagnosis!

Thanks for the info. I'm the same way ovulating and super regular period. No issues with me or DH. Wow, 9 IUIs is a lot. My insurance says I have to do 6 IUIs before we can move onto IVF which is partially covered. I'm really hoping an IUI works. I'll get my vitamin D tested again after a month on these supplements. The RE didn't seem too concerned bc my levels weren't way off or anything. Thats great that the first round of IVF was successful. Hoping baby #2 comes easier! Thanks.

Thanks. How many IUIs did you do? I have to do 6 which I feel like is a lot before moving on to IVF. IVF is partially covered on my insurance after 6 IUIs. Hoping IUI works. Thats great you were able to conceive DS 3 on your own so quick. You make me hopeful!

We were also dx with Unexplained IF. I remember begging the doc to "give me a problem, so we can solve it":(

I had 4 IUIs, and 3 IVFs, and 3 losses.

I have twin boys and am currently 9 months pregnant (NATURALLY!!!)
