Delivery Room- Stolen From Pregnancy lol!!

So this got me thinking- I would like DH and my mom.... not so much MIL because I dont know- I dont want her looking down under. DH said I cant just ask one and not the other...which is true.

I then asked DH what the would like and he said he wanted to be the only one in the room with me and said that it is OUR baby and that everyone else can wait in the waiting room lol!! I dont really see it like that.... I would want my mom there coaching me on too.

What do you ladies think?

Right now, I want just my DH in there with me. HOWEVER... that could change but if it does, it will be DH and my mom.... I def won't want anyone else in there and that's for sure!

I will definitely want both my parents around while I'm in the hospital in labor though! I'll just kick 'em out when it's time to push! (unless like I just said... possibly keep my mom in there... we'll see...)

This is an easy one for me to answer!

DH has a very calming effect on me, I think that'll be helpful!

As much as I love my Mom, we tend to stress each other out and it usually ends in screaming matches. I'm thinking thats not the kind of environment I'll want in the delivery room.

Oh, and there is no way in hellll that my MIL will be in the room ... so like a pp said even if I wanted my Mom in there if it was a "both or neither" situation I'd definitely be picking "neither"

For me it wil be DH, my mom (as long as she doesn't drive me nuts) and my best friend. My best friend because she is a certified Physicians Assistant and I want her there as an extra set of medical eyes that is 100% focused on me and my baby. We'll have to keep it on the down low though because I don't think they'll let her in the room if they know she works in the medical field, insurance and malpractice reasons I'm sure.

For me it would be my DH and my mom. My mom and I are so close and she always knows what to say or do to make me feel better. I guess its the little kid in me needing my mom when I become a mom.

I don't want anyone in there with me, ut I'll allow DH to stand by my head. I don't think I'll let my mom in.

DH wants it to be just us, but I'd like my mom to be there too. Maybe I'll have my mom come in and relieve DH while I'm in labor, but just have him in the delivery room. Lol we'll see.

I only want DH. I'm close with my mom, but still, I feel like this will be a very special experience between DH and I. Plus, I'll feel bad excluding my MIL and only having my mom, so it's just easier to have neither one in the room.

I voted just DH.

My mom is no longer with us but if she were I still don't think I would want her in the room at the moment the baby is born but I would want her with me in the room before and after.

My MIL lives in Florida and I doubt she would be here for the delivery. She will def. be after the baby is born.

As for anyone else, I know my dad and my sister will be in the waiting room and I'm sure some other family and friends too.

I think you can totally ask one and not the other. I know for myself my mom and I are VERY close but I am mostly just cordial with my MIL. I wouldn't feel comfortable having her in the delivery room with me at all. I actually never wanted anyone other than DH with me but then towards the end of my pregnancy I started thinking it would be nice if my mom was there too but I ended up with a C-section so it didn't matter after all.

In any case, I think for a lot of people there is a different relationship between a mother and a daughter as opposed to a MIL and a DIL so I really wouldn't have felt bad about not having MIL in there and DH understood that.

Sooooo... I have another question for you guys

Those who only want DH in the room while you are pushing, but will want mother and MIL in the room while you are going through labor. Now when it comes time to give birth... are you going to ask them to leave? Or will you discuss this beforehand with both mom and MIL that you only want DH in the room when you are pushing?

I feel like if I did this...it would be awkward for me to be like MIL can you please leave? But mom...you stay lol!!!

I wouldn't mind having my Mom or sisters in the room with me, I was there for 2 of my nieces births and I just loved it!!! My DH however will not let me but its ok Im ok with it.
If my mom was going to be in the room I would have no problem telling my MIL's that they have to go, I think a mother and daughter have a special bond but again they can all be with me during labor but I will kick them out when its time to push

DH and I and as few nurses and doc's as possible! I am not big on this whole process and I don't need anymore people than absolutely necessary in that room!

Is it weird that I would also want to see my dad while I'm in labor? I'm really close with my dad and he always has a way to make me feel better! (obviously not for the birth though!!!!!)

I mean it can't be TOO weird, in Father of the Bride 2, the dad is in there for the labor!

i would just want my DH and i dont think it's a bad idea if your mom coaches you through it..probably not ur MIL..too weird

Just my OB/GYN and DH is fine with me!!! It's is a special time but for me and DH to be a part of.

I think I would rather be by myself, but if DH wants to be there, I wouldn't tell him no. I love my mom very much and we have a good relationship, but there is NO WAY I would want her there. She and I just have different coping mechanisms (I am pretty laid back/calm and she is really high strung)

I can tell you when I was TTC and pg I always wanted just DH and I in the room for delivery, but figured the company would be nice so my husband could have a break during labor. I always assumed our families would come in and out throughout the labor process. Fast forward to labor.....I wanted NOBODY with me except Joe. maybe it's because I was in labor all night, maybe it was because it was Christmas I don't know, but any company/visitors that came were quickly escorted out. My water broke on Christmas Eve at 1200, we went to hospital at 1500, got out of triage into a room at 2000, and I delivered her at 1428 Christmas Day. I think since I labored so long during the night, I was exhausted, STARVING, and in pain I didn't feel up to chatting.

The point of my rambling is that you may change your mind once in labor so I suggest NOT telling ANYBODY that you do or do not want them in with you since it could change. I know my Mom, Dad, and Step-Mom were hurt I didn't want to see them. They understood, but still they had been told they could be with me.

I want my dh and my mom in the room. thru the whole thing. but DH doesnt want to be in the room when its time to puch b/c he doesn "deal with blood"... so it might be my mom and my best friend in the room while im pushing.

I voted for DH and Mom. I really just want me and DH but I know me and I bet I will be begging for my mom at some point. She is always the one that is able to comfort me the most.

I vote for DH and mom, but really it will only be my mom.

DH faints at the sight of blood - he once fainted reading about someone's delivery, so there's no way he's gonna be in the room for the delivery - labor, yes, delivery no. We've both agreed with that!
