Delivering at Good Sam and Dr. Pillitteri - BTDT
I had my heart set on delivering at Winthrop, but Kofinas, my high risk specialist, refused to treat me unless I see Dr. Pillitteri ONLY , who is affiliated with Good Sam. I know nothing about Good Sam, for the ladies who have BTDT with either or both, can you share your experience with me?
Does Good Sam offer private rooms? And this may be the stupidest question of them all, but for scheduled C-sections, is DH the only one allowed in the room. I know for "regular" birth you are sometimes allowed 2, does anyone know their rules?
I have never stayed overnight in a hospital and I am soooo nervous
If anyone feels more comfortable FMing, please do! TIA

Re: Delivering at Good Sam and Dr. Pillitteri - BTDT
I'm not a BTDT, but I am a patient of Dr. Pillitteri's. You will absolutely love him! He is so caring and very proactive, which I really wanted in a doctor. I love going to see him because he has truly made this pregnancy enjoyable so far. You will wait in his waiting room for at least an hour, if not more. But to me, he’s worth the wait. His front office staff isn’t the greatest or nicest, but they’re not delivering my baby so I don’t care. I am normally such a worry wart, but I have the utmost confidence in him and haven’t worried about a single thing since I started seeing him.
I did end up in L&D at Good Sam at 17 weeks. I had severe cramping and then around 1am the next day had some spotting that turned a little heavier. Dr. P immediately sent me to L&D. I had two nurses – one was phenomenal, constantly checking on us if we needed anything from a blanket to a drink to food. The other wasn’t so nice and really annoyed me.
I think they have private rooms because I overheard a nurse telling another patient while I was there that she would see if she could get her a private room. As for who can be in the OR with you during a c-section – I always just assumed it would be just DH.

I see Dr. Kofinas and Dr. Pillitteri. I have heard great things about Good Sam and their NICU is Trama 1 just like Wintrhop. I know that they have private rooms but I think you have to pay for them. As far as the C-Section, you are only allowed to have one person in the OR with you.

I have never stayed overnight either until birth. Good Sam has private rooms but I'm pretty sure they are on a first come first serve if they are available kinda thing. I think whoever took the c section class with you is allowed in the room with you if you have one. I had a regular delivery and had my sister and dh. Everyone came in after I had the baby.
ETA: Private rooms are free we were told.

Re: Delivering at Good Sam and Dr. Pillitteri - BTDT
Good Sam has 3 private rooms.
As mentioned by others, only one person is allowed in the delivery room with you. (and just an fyi - not that it matters at all, but if you are a scheduled c-section, your delivery will be in the regular OR, not on the L&D floor)
All of the nurses there really are fantastic - from the recovery room (pacu) to maternity, you'll have great care!
