Who's delivering at Good Sam Hospital?

Should I be calling for the hospital tour soon? I'm 23 weeks. Has anyone went yet and how far along were you? Are there any birthing classes included with the tour? Does it cost anything? I know I'll get all these answers if they call but I just like to know a little background of it first. Any of your experience would be helpful. Thank you!

I would call and find out the dates that are available for whatever classes you want to take. I'm due beginning of Dec and we are taking the First Time Around class in mid-October (they offer either a 5 week session that is like an hr or 2 a week, or an 8 hr Saturday session.) The tour is included in that, and I believe the cost is $125.

Also, incase you are having a c-sect, Good Sam requires you to take a class on that too if you want DH or anyone else to be in the room while it is being done. We just went for it last week, but give them a call for the exact dates. I think the next few are 9/23, 10/5 and 10/16 from 8-10. That class is free.

Let me know if you have any other questions..I might be able to answer them! You're 6 weeks behind me, so I'm sure you have PLENTY of time!

I went on the tour and did the mandatory c-section class. I went at 29 weeks. I scheduled around 25 weeks. Those are the only things that are free.

I was going to sign up for the breastfeeding class but the tour guide basically said, all they'll do at the class that they don't do when you are in the hospital is give you some reading material. And that if you do it in the hospital when you deliver, you'll actually have your baby and they'll give you pointers. The classes in the hospital after you give birth are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

would highly recommend the lamaze class at good sam which also includes basic child care and the tour..i took it when i had ds and it really helped ease my mind...

be advised you definitely do have to take the c section class if you want to have your dh in the delivery room with you

if you want to take a bf class DO NOT rely on the class they offer during your stay... when i was there with ds they offered it during the one hour of visiting they have during the day.... and when i asked what people do they said to leave the baby with my visiters... so i ended up not takingthe class...

I'm delivering there and havent done anything yet. I am 31 weeks already I better call today!
