I was talking to the manager and he got the call on Wed. Rumors are flying around that striderite even online will be gone in the next 6 months but it's a wait and see. All corporate stores are officially done. I'm crushed.

Deer Park striderite closed after Apr 24th
Went this morning and they still had a good selection but the store was packed! Bought 7 pairs of shoes for DD and paid around $140 (stocked up for summer and fall). The lady in front of me had 15 pairs! If you are planning on going, I'd try to get there ASAP. I think by the time we're on school break next week its going to be slim pickings!

Got there at 10:45 and was on the checkout like around 11:30ish!

I can't let myself go to these sales. I still have shoes for DD1 to grow into that I bought when the Broadway Mall store closed, and some of them she'll probabably never wear because she didn't like the style.

Really??! That stinks! They are the only shoe store I buy from due to their selection of wide sizes. Both my boys have block feet.

sooo when stride rite closes, what are the best places to get shoes? I sometimes go to incredible feets but they don't have the biggest selection. I have also gone to Nordstroms, but don't want to deal with the mall every time DD needs shoes..

I buy my kids Skechers only, LOVE them!! They fit great and are so durable, they never rip, tear, or wear out. They are the best. I try to get them in the outlets or even on Amazon, it's cheaper.

For the time being I will get dd measured at another store then order from striderite.com since they now offer free shipping and free returns. If they close then famous foot ware and sketchers at the outlet. I hate malls.

See i had a problem with her first pair of skechers- but they were the twinkle toes- the kind that light up. They look kind of like a Converse- like a flat sneaker but had the lights on the top of the toe.
They ripped after less than 6 months of wear- like a huge hole in the canvas part where her foot was actually sticking out of it.
But maybe it was just that particular line
I got her latest sneakers for school at Bob's Stores- Adidas I think
