Re: Deep breaths, deep breaths...anxiety attacks...
I don't try to fight them, I give up and let them take over. It sounds exactly the opposite of what you want to do, but by allowing yourself to give in to the fears, you realize that there's nothing there to hurt you, and as a result, the anxiety usually goes away.
There was a website I went to that had more information on this style. If I find it, I'll FM it to you.

Square breathing helps you to regulate breathing and heart rate and focus on something else:
Inhale to the count of four, hold to the count of four, exhale to the count of four and hold again to the count of four.

Re: Deep breaths, deep breaths...anxiety attacks...
I focus on breathing as well. I assure myself I am in control of every breath and take. I take long deep breaths and count. That usally helps.
Also, now I know how to recognize anxiety - ie - on a plane. So, when in the past, I might freak out more in fear that something might be physically wrong, now I know it's anxiety and can usually talk myself out of it.
I know how scary they can be. Hang in there, you're not alone.

I agree with this.

Sorry you're going through this.
