Dear Last Minute Tax Filer
I just wanted to say that first and foremost, thanks for waiting until the infamous Apr. 15th to suddenly decide to file your taxes. I mean, obviously the past few months of time that you had to do it, weren't sufficient enough time at all for you....and therefore you want your taxes done RIGHT NOW. I mean filing an extension would be easier and helpful for you at this point...but no...you are deciding it needs to be done IMMEDIATELY. I must drop everything I am doing and get YOUR taxes done in the next 8 minutes cause you want to go to the post office before work, and I should oblige you this speedy service.
Perhaps you forgot that doing your personal income taxes isn't like ordering from the drive-up window...forgive me for wanting to make sure your paperwork is done properly and that you get the proper refund, or I can hopefully reduce your tax. So when I tell you that I need more than the time it takes to heat up a Hot Pocket to do your papers, don't get PISSSSSED off at me like its MY fault that you waited until today to do your taxes.

I have a bad feeling your day is going to get worse!
I never got the people who waited to the last minute... I am ALL for procrastination- but we always do the taxes early.
(Maybe it's because we get a nice fat refund and want it RIGHT AWAY!)

Sometimes it's not our fault. We didn't get the statement from one of DH's company's funds until Friday, and I know that Goldman Sachs still hasn't issued statements for all of their funds.
But we gave everything we had to our acct in advance and she just had to pop in the last few numbers this weekend. We'd never expect someone to be able to get it done today with no advance warning!

Well, it's not like April 15th is the final date every year, and they've been aware of this filing date for 20+ years, and there have been quite a few commercials for the last several weeks reminding people of the deadline.....

see this is a totally understandable thing--i don't get irate about a situation like this. you made sure to bring everything in and say "hey we're missing 1 thing--when we get it--we'll have it for you ASAP!" you are doing it right.
yeah the clients i'm talking about --- had EVERYTHING for A LONG TIME and just didn't bother to do it until today.....i've already received 3 folders on my desk in the past 30 min. or so. all people who had their documents for awhile, and just kind of said "eh--i'll wait until the 15th" :bang

We've been getting calls all morning from our outside clients wanting to know where their 1099's are. All 1099's were sent out Jan 31. They would only receive a 1099 if they made over $600 in commissions. Why the heck would you wait until April 15 asking where your 1099 is 
We've had a few crazies this morning. We had one woman who did not earn over $600 therefore would not get a 1099 and was screaming how she had to have one. Fine we'll do something. And she wants it EMAILED to her. Faxing would just be too easy. So now accounting has to get the 1099 that shows she made like $100 in commissions, scan it, save it then email it to her. All on April 15.

I am really getting annoyed at these last minute tax things. We have an Audit Protection program and the woman signed up for it on Friday, the 11th. She had a major dilema on Sunday and because she did not have her log in ID had to go out and buy Turbo Tax. She called me today screaming about how she had to go and spend more money on Turbo Tax. And then got mad that I had no sympothy for her. I appologized for her inconvenience however today is Tuesday, she should have contacted us on Monday or even left a message on our machine on Sunday for an immediate call on Monday. Not wait until 1pm on the 15th to complain about your tax dilema.
I truely do not have any sympothy for anyone who is doing their taxes today

i can relate with the 1099s
people were calling yesterday to tell me they never got theirs . . . so i told them i could fax it over and they get all annoyed bc they dont have a fax machine
well even if i mail it out on the 14th. . . its not going to get there in ONE day

I just had a guy call screaming that he needs all his invoices for 2007. ALL 20 of them. So I have print out each invoice individually and fax it to him

THis reminds me of my FAVORITE commerical these days.
The one where the woman is waiting for the bus and a guy innocently asks her "Do you know what time it is?"
And she freaks out on him- saying
"YES I KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS...I KNOW! I'M AWARE OK???? I DON'T NEED THE PRESSURE!"
Then it says something about- tax day is less than a week away- are you ready?
Classic!

I worked for accounting firm for 3.5 years before I left to be a SAHM and even though I wasn't an accountant I got the brunt of all the people complaining and it was so frusting dealing with people like you mentioned. I definitly don't miss this day.
The best is trying to explain to someone over and over and over that by filing an extentsion you will not be penalized in any way.
