DD's camp is going to see Ice Age 3 - advice needed

DD is almost 3. She goes to a preschool camp twice a week for a few hours. This week they are taking them to see Ice Age 3. It is rated PG and I looked up parent reviews and I'm not sure I want her to go.

She's never been in a movie theater before. The movie has some pretty scary parts for the little ones. She hasn't seen too many movies. We watched Snow White yesterday and she was frightened by the scene when the queen is disguised as the old lady with the apple. She watched the rest of the movie from under my arm. She hasn't seen the other Ice Age movies.

The camp said I could go with her but I'm not sure I want this movie to be her first experience in a theater. Think I should just keep her home that day or just let her go, or go with her? (I don't want her to be the only kid with a parent there.)

Personally Patti; I'd keep her home. You don't want to tramatize her & have her scared of the theatre. Not worth it.

I think too its kind of nervy to take 2-3 year olds to a PG rated movie.

Go with your gut and keep her home. I'm really surprised that they're going to see a pg movie. Last year, when my son was in pre-k, the kids were allowed to bring in a movie they wanted to watch. I brought in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and the teacher said no they can't watch it b/c it's PG and they can only show them G movies (and these kids were 4-5 yrs old).

Wow, I would be really annoyed if my child's daycare chose a trip that was questionable like that.

My 3 yr. old watches Ice Age all the time. I dont think it's a particularly scary movie. If you are questioning it though, I would just keep her home.
