DD whining in her sleep

DD is 12 weeks old. She falls asleep with a pacifier at night. Almost every night, she has moments when she's sort of yelling/whining/crying, but it doesn't seem like she's actually awake. DH or I pop the pacifier back in and she's done and out cold. We haven't moved her to her room because we're dreading walking across the hallway 5-10 times a night to pop the pacifier in (so much easier with a pack and play right in our bedroom). Has anyone dealt with this? A baby who's whining, but doesn't seem to be actually awake? Any idea what we can do? DH wants to try CIO, but DD is still so young.

My DD did this too, we would put pacifier in her mouth all the time throughout the night and eventually let her CIO around 3 months or so. She's 10 months now and still often whines at night without fully waking up. She eventually stops, but we keep 6 pacifiers in her crib so she just needs to roll over and she can find one on her own.

DS does this in his sleep. And since he doesn't use a pacifier, it has nothing to do with that. He usually whines for a minute or so, and then is quiet and right back to sleep.
