Whining during sleep

For a couple weeks now, my DD ( 5 1/2 months) is whining a lot more around sleeptime. She whines in her sleep too. Sometimes she will be sleeping and I put her down and she whines and it's almost like a little scream sometimes.

Tonight she was sleeping and whining a lot.

Could this be teething or could she be having nightmares??

Her Dr says she's not teething, but she has every sign of teething.

Anything I can do? It sounds so sad :(

It is sad and often scary. My DS is almost 11 mos and he's been doing it for quite some time. Our pediatrician says that it can be teething, but it can also just be normal dreaming/nightmares. There's not much you can do. I know how difficult that is. If my DS wakes-up, though, and I know he doesn't need a change in diaper and isn't hungry, then I usually give him some ibuprofen because that means his teething is bad enough to actually wake him up. This was our pediatrician's suggestion. Good luck!

DD did this around the same time and it was teething - but I didn't realize it until I saw the first break in her gums
Whenever she would whine after that, I would give her tylenol if she was awake. Good luck - hope it doesn't last too much longer!
