Dd "lies" is this normal
Dd is 22 months old (2 at end of year). She gets obsessed with little phrases and repeats them endlessly.
Lately she has started lying but isn't saying to be silly.
Example yesterday was the cat pushed me. This morning she just said the cat bit me. I'm sitting next to the cat it didn't happen. He's never been aggressive towards her
Is this normal? I know she doesn't know what lying even means so I'm assuming she is just using her imagination?

I would think it's normal. As dd learns new sayings or expressions she makes up reasons to use them. Yesterday she rotated between telling DH she was mad at me and telling me she was mad at DH so she could show off her new move of stomping her foot. We definitely have a major actress on our hands and she takes every opportunity to show off her skills. I would chalk it up to trying new things out and testing your reaction.

Yes. Its a great phase. I can't wait. Lol.
My nephew used to tell everyone that whoever was next to him when he fell, "pushed him". Nothing better than being in a store, kid crying that I pushed him down.

Yes DD was doing this silly nonsense last yr too at the same age. She used to fib to her teacher and make up all sorts of crazy stuff: baby mice were biting her legs at night while she slept, meanwhile she simply fell on the sidewalk. A fox did this or that... All crazy stuff she would blame on fictitious things... It's funny.

DS is 20 months and constantly "lies" - everything from "Moogle bit me" (the cat), to "I did poopies" and more!

Re: Dd "lies" is this normal
Was actually starting to enjoy that she could communicate with us and it has reduced the crying.
I don't care when it's silly but concerned when she says tummy hurts or something that is untrue or when she blames other kids/teacher/me for pushing her.
Ahhh toddlers are fun. So much energy so many opinions. Good thing they are cute and cuddly

I blame doc mcstuffins for most of it! DD is always saying such and such hurts, she broke her arm, she can't move her leg (as she's walking toward me). When I suspect something's actually wrong I hesitate to ask her if her belly or ear or whatever hurts bc I don't want to feed her new lines.
