DD is so congested! HELP!
I've been up all night with my 8 week old. She's so congested she can barely breathe at times. It's also a struggle for her to eat. I had to lay with her propped up on the couch all night cause she seems to breathe a little easier when she's sitting up. I'm assuming there's nothing I can do for her at home right? I plan to call her doctor when they open this morning.
Do you think this has anything to do with not having a humidifier in her room?
Just looking for some advice. Thanks!

Re: DD is so congested! HELP!
Did you use saline? That is what my dr suggested. He said lots of saline and a steamy bathroom, especially before bottle time so he would be comfortable enough to eat and stay hydrated.
I hope she feels better soon.

This is what I would suggest as well.

The tiny noses saline drops worked REALLY well with DD (although she hated them).
We also got a cool mist humidifier.

Re: DD is so congested! HELP!
I had a humidifier in ds room during the winter but it is humid out now so unless you have ac running i dont know if it is useful
ds was congested when he was very young and what i found helped was puting him in the bouncy seat while i was in the shower... basically it steamed him but it did releave him... what i would do then was bring him out into the cold, unfortuneately you dont have that outside for that. but the temp change would shock his system and clear him up
i am guilty of using vicks babyrub too

Re: DD is so congested! HELP!
DS had this recently too.
I used the saline nose drops, baby vicks on his feet and the tiniest bit on his chest (the nurse at my ped's office said it was ok), and what seemed to help him most was a warm bath. The steam just helped clear everything out.
Also, you can elevate one side of the mattress for when she sleeps.

Re: DD is so congested! HELP!
I second the saline for the nose. They have an aerosol mist one that is a lot easier to use because you can use it while she is sitting up and it is seems gentle when it goes in and not a drops.
A cool mist humidifier and the Pediacare vicks plugs in (I would ask the ped about the plug in first because I think the baby has to be 3 months, but if the room is big then it might not matter).

Re: DD is so congested! HELP!
Get the battery powered nasal aspirator to help clear out some of the congestion. I have a Graco one from BRU for $20 and it works awesome! It's quick, easy, and so much better than the little cheap nasal aspirators in the store.
