DD fell and hit her head.... Now what?

DD fell off the couch and hit the top side of her head around 2 hours ago. Her behavior seems normal, she's not vomiting, and there's no bump. I usually put her to bed at but I waited an extra hour just to keep an eye on her. It's now 9: 15 and she's going to sleep.

I know I have to wake her every two hours but what exactly am I supposed to do when I wake her? What am I supposed to look for? How long am I supposed to keep her up for?

If it were me, I wouldn't wake her. I would probably go in to check, but not wake her.

This is definitely something you should call your ped about and get their advice.

Re: DD fell and hit her head.... Now what?

We just went through something similar. My DC rolled off the bed and hit the hard wood floor and had a bump on her head. We took her to the ER and they checked her eyes, to make sure they were not dialated and they were equal. They felt her head and she didn't cry. They said check during the night to see if she vomits in the crib but dont wake her. If she vomits, gets a fever or is sluggish to go to the ER. I also called my pedi. I hope your DC feels better!

my dd fell and hit her head when she was 2 and i just kept a close eye on her. unless your dd is vomitting or lethargic, she should be okay! kiddos are more resilient than we think! Chat Icon
