Depends. Is this for a lead teacher, an aide, the director? How many people are you gifting? This all comes into play for me figuring out how much to give.

I don't want to hijack the post but are we expected to gift all these people? We just started daycare and DS goes to a big center. So I thought I would get the 2 teachers for sure... but do I have get gifts for the 3 directors and the 4 aids?

I did not in the 5 years DD was there
I gave her main teachers and main assistants. (and gave them very generous gifts)
that was it.
The directors get paid a bigger salary than the teachers and had barely any contact with my child. I didn't gift them ever.
I didn't give the floaters who came in late in the day anything either. I barely knew their names and they were always different. I would have to buy at least 10 gifts in thar case and I wouldn't even know who to address them to since I had no clue what their names were.
I couldn't afford that considering the mortgage payment I was paying per month to send her there .

thanks! I will skip the directors and just do teachers and assistants. when you say very generous, do you mind me asking how much? I def don't want to seem cheap to them.

There were a few years where she only had one main teacher and I gave her $100 and $50 for the assistant/aide
Most times she had 2 main teachers (no assistant/aide) so I gave them $50 each

Daycare gift card
I give giftcards to the assistant and aide. I give Bath and Body Works soaps to the floaters and the directors (we've been at the center for almost 7 years now and the director has been really good to us going above and beyond in some areas so I feel the need to recognize that).
This year I don't think DS 2 has floaters (or I never see them since he gets dropped off and picked up from his regular teachers.

I always gave somewhat generous monetary gifts to the main classroom teacher and main assistant ($75 main, $50 assistant). I gave token gifts ($10 gift cards, Mrs. Prindable Apple, bath stuff, etc.) to the 2-3 regular floaters. And usually a small fruit tray for the main desk. I loved my daycare and felt I really wanted to show my appreciation to all the players who were charged with the most important part of my life for 9 hours/day.

I'm not giving the director anything but I am buying for everyone else, including floaters. I'm also considering arranging for a breakfast for everyone. IMO, there is no one on earth I'm more concerned with keeping happy than the people who take care of my DD all day.
I'm going to ask the assistant which floaters are with DD most frequently- I have a good idea but want to make sure I'm not forgetting anyone. I was thinking Amazon gift cards.
For the main and assistant teachers I'm giving cash and then some type of gift to open. Honestly, I'm sparing no expense with them. They get a crap salary for a tough and very important job.

DS just started at the daycare a month ago and he only goes part time (2.5 hrs a day every other day). Would I gift the same amount as someone full-time? Sorry for all the questions. This is my first time having a kid in daycare so I just want to make sure I do the right thing without spending a ton.

I was going to give giftcards to the 2 main teachers. I was going to just do $15 coffee gift cards. Now I feel cheap.

For that little time I'd give a little less than full time or part time with more hours.
