Day care Violations

So I was contemplating enrolling my DD in a Daycare- like program for Pre k so she can attend while I go to work and would not have to worry about childcare. I only work 2-3 days per week.

It seems that the daycare centers that were recommended to me have a long list of violations. (all recently inspected). How is this possible??? BC I know people that send their kids there, and it was a few of them that I was considering.

They werent small violations either.

What website are you looking at to find the violations and what area of LI are you in? I send my kids to a preschool in a daycare and we are very happy there.

I had a similar issue when I was looking for daycare for DS. Talking to a bunch of people here, it seems almost impossible to find a center with no violations.

You also have to really read into what the violation is - some sound really bad, but the reality is a simple fix that is easily corrected.

Wow! This was extremely helpful!!! Ok yes the one I was set to go with has a lot of violations and to be honest I am not comfortable with. Something about no background check on someone with direct care for the child and then another about only qualified prole should be providing care- something along those lines. This in addition to some other things about a diapers being changed (which wouldn't be applicable to me) and smaller items. However our closer contender had a violation about the menu and garbage pail cover. Not as concerning.

Most people don't bother to keep checking up on their center after their child is already enrolled.
