Day care question

I am starting my search ASAP. But after reading the thread I am shockedChat Icon

Do the prices go down if you only need them from like 8-3:30? or the price set for the day? I noticed a lot of 7 am to 7pm prices so I wasn't sure if that was for the full time frame.

TIA!

Re: Day care question

Most will offer you different prices depending on the times, and the days. We use our daycare for a full day, 5 days a week, which, at age 3 is $950, though when we started, when Alex was an infant, it was about $1200 a month. Keep in mind, too, a lot of these places charge more during the summer for "camp" - ours is about $1500 a month for the summer months.

But, at our school there is early care from 7:30am-9am, and late care from 3-6pm, which costs an additional amount. You can also opt to just have your child in the morning, from 9-12pm, or afternoon only, from 12-3pm, and you can also do 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week, and for each of these options it costs less.

Our daycare is in the Philly 'burbs, but I know others have something similar in LI. This is a good question to ask of the ladies on Parenting...

Re: Day care question

Thanks! That does help. I just need to get on the ball and start calling places. I have a friend's, friend who just opened a place and I am hoping that she has info when we get back from Christmas break about if they take infants or not, etc.

I also am a speech therapist in a school so I won't need summer. Thank god. That will help a lot! I hoping to get one of the few places that are just near my work. That would be perfect!
