cycle cancelled
I've had a sense that this was going to happen since last week, but getting the call just broke my heart. After 10 days stimming for IVF, I only had 2 follicles measuring minimum size (there were 5 other tiny ones). I was on a pretty aggressive protocol, so I'm left with little optimism for future attempts.
My menstrual cycle has been much lighter and shorter the last two months. For me, that's an indicator that my body is really slowing down (I'm 37).
We plan to give it another go next month, but my RE didn't sound terribly hopeful during our brief phone conversation. We're seeing him next week to discuss the plan, but right now, I only see darkness at the end of the tunnel.

I am so sorry! Please don't give up hope, sometimes when the future seams at its most bleak...there is always a small ray of sunshine trying to sneak in somewhere!

They want a minimum of 6 to proceed with IVF. IUI isn't an option due to MF.

Re: cycle cancelled
Thanks so much. Only my mom, aunt, and grandmother (aside from DH) know we're doing this. This is just as upsetting for them, so being able to talk about it here really is helpful.
I'm waiting for the nurse to call with instructions about discontinuing meds.

I actually brought up donor eggs before we even began the cycle. I am absolutely open to it. The issue is one of cost. I tried to compile info a while ago, in anticipation of ovarian reserve being an issue due to my age. It looks as though the donor's compensation is 8-10k, then agency fee is several thousand, plus the cost of drugs, procedure... It looks as though we'd be in the 25-30k range at minimum.

Re: cycle cancelled
I don't quite recall the rationale, but it had something to do with the decreased likelihood of a pregnancy resulting in a healthy baby when fewer follicles were present. It's not just me, they (my RE practice) require all IVF patients to develop a minimum of 6 follicles measuring at least 16 or 18mm (can't recall which). MY RE said we could have changed to IUI using donor sperm, but DH felt strongly that we try another protocol first.
Edited for clarity.

Re: cycle cancelled
if you want to talk fm me. i was told i should prob use donor eggs by many docs. bc i couldnt afford it...i kept trying iuis and ivfs. like i said previously i did a cycle ivf with only two eggs..but my re was okay with it knowing i understood the risks. of course the chances are better with more follies... but i wont everrrrrrr make more than two or 3 so i went for it...thank god.
i understand the frustration...could u use an re that doesnt have as strict of rules? oxoox
