I know that once the doc says, "You're 1cm dialated and 60% effaced..." type thing that it can be a day to weeks before you actually go into labor, but I was just curious how long everyone really had to weight between your cervix starting and your actual labor. TIA!

For me I would say it was within a week. Tuesday I was told I was 2 cm and then sunday I had dd. I totally knew she was coming bc I lost all my energy the day and days before.

I was fingertip dilated for 2 weeks Chat Icon

Then I was 1-2 for another 2 weeks, and FINALLY one day after I went to the doctor and was 2 cm, I went into labor.

So, altogether from fingertip to labor (I was 3 cm when I got to the hospital) was 5 weeks.

My internals started at 37 weeks. I made zero progress for 2 weeks, no dilation, only slight effacement.

My 39 week appt, i was a fingertip dilated and 60% effaced. I went into labor that afternoon and had DD the next day.

At 36 weeks DS's head was Very low. At 37 weeks I was 1 to 2 cm. Then around 39 weeks I was 3 cm. And the week of my due date I was just about 4 cm. I had DS two days late.

Re: Curious about how long between showing signs of cervical change and actual labor...

With my first it took 2 days, I went from being 1 cm to 4 overnight

With #2 I was 2 cm for 4 weeks, I was having pre-term labor and had to be on bedrest and have terbultaline. I had to be induced with her, and in just hours I went from being 2 to 10 cm.

With #3 I was only fingertip dilated, 4 days later went into labor and was 5 cm when I made it to the hospital
