Curb appeal help
I am posting a picture of my home, in hopes some one can help me with some curb appeal idea.
All I know is that I hate the green. I think whoever owned before us loved green, bc even the inside was all green. Anyone any thoughts or ideas would be great. We are also looking into getting a new front door and screen door.
Also What color do you think we should paint the shutters?
TIA

Re: Curb appeal help
I would add some color and once the bushes grow a bit in the front it will fill in along the foundation.....I think that's where it looks bare.

Re: Curb appeal help
How about painting the shutters black (and maybe adding them to the downstairs windows too for symmetry) and then you can paint your front door black or even red. I think the flowers would help too, even a window box on the bottom windows.

Re: Curb appeal help
I would paint the shutters black.. adn def add the same ones to the bottom to make them all match. Then, flowers... flowers galore! I loove gardening... you can get some perinals so you don't have to worry about buying them each year. Maybe a hostas plant for the corner...and possibly a peoney plant next to the drive way for they get a bit big but not over powering and they are sooo beautiful. Then around the sidewalk get some small annuals...I think they look great as a border. Some Rose of Sharons along the stockade fense would be nice as well. maybe some lily of the valley around the mail box..? i can prolly think of many many ideas...but don't want to sound too crazy LOL. There are also some great webistes out there that have pre-planned arrangements... you just tell them the size garden you want, and you buy all the flowers needed for it... it's great. If I find that site I'll let ya know! great hose BTW

ITA with all of this. Also, just adding some flowers will really give you color.
Dont forget to post some of your after pics!

Re: Curb appeal help
Definitely some flowers. You can paint the shutters and your front door and buy a new mailbox to put on the post.

Re: Curb appeal help
I love love love the idea of a red door.
My advice would be to paint the shutters a tan, from the pic it looks like the downstairs window has a tannish border and your foundation looks tan too. Are your rails green? Cause that might be tough then. If the rails are green then do tan shutters and door. I would not go red. It will be too much Christmas like. You could always spray the rails, but I don't know how time consuming it is. Your grass is beautiful, so I'd just add some white flowers around the front to spruce it up. Or my fave, hostas !
Good luck happy reno curb appeal.

Re: Curb appeal help
ok, this is my thought. I'm just talking it all out: grey roof, white siding, black shutters, red door, black railings. For flowers I would some white & red flowers. White would be a nice pop of color since your grass is gorgeous. Your DH does a great job with the grass. Then some red flowers to give another pop of color and play off of the front door. Love your house btw. I think it has great curb appeal already, so with just some extra plantings and some paint, you are good to go. HTH!

Re: Curb appeal help
I think you should -paint the shutters black. -paint the door a dark red -Add some medium sized bushes to the side of the house. I can't see how far the house is from the fence but you could even consider digging a flower bed along the side of the house that continues in front of the fence. I think some nice perenial bushes would "balance" that side with the driveway side. -I would also consider a flower box under the large front window.

Re: Curb appeal help
How about extending that overhang and building out a front porch that runs the length of the house.

Re: Curb appeal help
I think it would be pretty easy (and inexpensive) to add a bit of curb appeal to your house.
I'd just add a pair of shutters to the 1st level window and create a nice garden of shrubs, perennials and annuals to dress up the front. Maybe put a pot of flowers on a stand (or a couple of stands in varying heights) to fill in that wall space between the door and the driveway-side railing.

ITA with all of this, especially putting something near your front door to balance out the stoop. I think the front looks a little bare because you can see so much of the foundation, the shrubs just need to grow in a bit. You also might consider adding a bed on the left side of the house with some shrubs and flowers.
You have a beautiful house!
