We went in spring 2011.
We stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino which was a very nice resort. It's about 20 mins. from Willemstad, which has restaurants and shopping. I can't think of any names of restaurants there, but we had a few good meals. I really enjoyed it.
Let me know if you have any other questions and i'll try to provide more info :)

Re: Curacao
We went to Christoffel Park and hiked on Mt. Christoffel. Our hotel was in Willemstad and the drive to the park wasn't bad.
I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant we went to...we stayed at the Avila Beach Hotel on Penstraat Street and discovered this tiny little French restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. A Swiss couple owned it and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. I went in 2006 so I'm having a hard time remembering!

Re: Curacao
Have you ever read The Cay? It's a children's book, but it takes place in Curacao during WWII.

Re: Curacao
The restaurant that stands out most is Fort Nassau. It's absolutely breathtaking and the food was wonderful. Make sure you bring your camera!
