How long was it after your csection before you were able to lift the car seat and stroller in and out of the car by yourself? And how long before you could wear your baby in a baby carrier without pain? I will most likely be having a repeat csection, but I don't remember how long it took to feel up to going out with the baby by myself, and this time it would be with a highly energetic, strong-willed 3 year old in tow, so I'm a little nervous to take her and the baby out by myself until I can chase her down while possibly carrying the baby in his car seat or wearing him.

Re: Csection moms
I've had 3 csections and I was doing everything as soon as I got home. Just listen to your body and don't push it. Whenever I felt any pain/discomfort returning I knew I was doing too much and took it easy for a bit.

Honestly about two weeks... i may have done more than that before the two weeks. Wasnt a good idea for me. the hardest thing was not picking up my dd who was 2 and all about mommy. This was a repeat for me as well, and I think by picking them up too soon caused the knot to pop out. It took longer for my incision to fully heal, and I had to get the knot cut out.

Re: Csection moms
I waited the full two weeks to drive, so that's when I started lifting the carrier/stroller. I have two family members that pushed too hard, too fast and had complications because of it. For those first two weeks I would take it as easy as you can.

Re: Csection moms
I took a good 3 weeks plus the 4 hospital days to do anything. I lined up DH and my family to help out so I was not going to push myself. By the time a month after delivery went by, I was well healed.

Ok, thanks, I know I'll have to do a lot to take care of dd and the baby when dh goes back to work. But at least I know at home there won't be any heavy lifting and I can go at my own pace. I'm mostly thinking about getting my heavy stroller in and out of the car. Was thinking of getting a snap and go so it would be lighter, but not sure if it will be necessary.

It was a few weeks before I was cleared to drive, lift my 2yo, or the baby carrier.

Re: Csection moms
You risk popping a stitch if you lift heavy things before you're healed. I think the general timeline is 2 weeks of no lifting anything heavier than your baby (which means, not the car seat carrier).

It was supposed to be no lifting no driving for 3 weeks. I had to lift baby and seat after a week (DH travels for work) and I had to deal with my 20 month old as well. I would slide stroller out of car and lift it back in.
Got a step stool for next to crib to get baby into crib more easily. (In short so it's a lift...lol) and tried to get 20 month old to climb with a little help when possible. But at night J had no choice but to lift him.

I would say at least 2 weeks. Then if I over did it I was in pain...try and take it al little easy and line up help. It is major surgery.
