Crying for paci in middle of night
DS is 15 weeks old and has been STTN 8 hrs since @ 10 weeks. He loves his paci but usually doesn't need it when I put him in his crib because he's mostly asleep by then (I dream feed him at 10 and put him in his crib for the night). However since last week he's been waking up numerous times in the middle if the night for his paci. Normally we go in at the first wimper to give it to him and he goes right back to sleep but than he's up again and hour or 2 later. So last night he woke at 130, DH went and gave him his paci and than he was wimpering again at 230. I said let's wait and see if he can resettle himself. Well the wimper escalated to a full out cry. DH wanted to go in but I said he was fine we have to give him time. DH was saying he's hungry, has a poop- but I knew he didn't because he's hasn't is 5 weeks. So I went in @ 250 and tried to just soothe him with my hand and he quieted down but was still wimpering. After 10 minutes I gave him the paci and he went right to sleep without waking again. Is he too young to self-sooth? He has bad gas so I think this is what's waking him up in the first place and he just can't get back to sleep without that dang paci!
Any suggestions?

Re: Crying for paci in middle of night
for us, we got rid of the paci at 6 months.
loey was not able to self-soothe before then and he needed us! he would wake up a million times a night to "comfort-nurse" or to get his paci or whatever.... but at that point, he was crying out of necessity. he couldn't get back to sleep on his own.

Yes..too young to self soothe.
Sorry to say when DD was young..had to go in multiple times a night to give her the paci..until she was able to grab it on her own!
Try Mylicon in his last bottle for gas.

Re: Crying for paci in middle of night
DS could self soothe at 12 weeks, it totally depends on your child and only mommy knows them better than anyone.
I wonder if he's starting to teethe, DS only cries for paci if his teeth bothering him and he cant get a grip on a teething toy.
