Cruising in September
For the cruise experts- would you take a cruise toward the end of September to the Caribbean or is this too risky because of hurricanes? Also is it smarter to book early or wait until the date gets closer for more of a deal? TIA!

Cruising in September
In September, the hurricanes tend to be more North, so this would not hold me back. As far as booking, we tend to book as early as possible because we are picky about room location (jr. suite with balcony, higher deck, mid-ship to slightly forward, not on a busy deck). If you are not picky, then you might get better deals closer to the sail date as the cruise line tries to sell unsold inventory.

Cruising in September
If you can get a great deal and get travel protection I would book it. I went to the Caribbean in September 2011. A hurricane hit the week before we left. Luckily all we got when we arrived was a little rain.

Re: Cruising in September
We are also looking at a cruise for the same time period. We have always cruised whenever. If there is a hurricane they divert you. They keep their asset (ship) protected. We actually were cruising from NY when Hurricane Sandy was due to hit and we came back a day earlier.
As far as prices, a lot of ships I noticed are having sales right now kids free, or 3 and 4 person free. Not sure how many you are traveling with but I wouldn't hesitate to book now.
